Link to iMovie in Photo Library in iOS 15

Since the update to ios 15 the link to iMovie, in the Photo Library, disappeared. While editing a video in Photo Library there was a link to iMovie in the right upper corner of the screen. Now it’s not possible anymore to open a portrait video while using Photo Library and edit it within iMovie to add for example music from the Music Library. Will this be back in the near future or will there be an other solution?

You can force the iPhone to download the latest compatible version. You must go to your Account on the App Store, then access the Purchased list. Click on My Purchases and select Not on this iPhone. Search for iMovie and ask to download. It you prompt a message that the latest version is incompatible with your device, but it will allow you to download the latest compatible version from there. Hope that helps...

Feels like they make so much money they have to do these things so they look busy. And it feels like kids are doing this, not adults.

I have the same issue with closing tabs on my phone. Last phone, 12, used to take two moves. Now you click edit, select Select Tabs or Close All Tabs, then click on the circle upper right in each tab, then click Close Tab, then click Close 1 Tab or Cancel, then click Done. WTF??? I am getting physical injury anymore from my phone. Never been with Android, but friends say it is same problem with constant changing.

Are you on iOS 14 or 15? Because that will only work on an older version of iOS, like iOS 14. That will force the App Store to download an older version of iMovie compatible with iOS 14 that maybe have the link to iMovie in Photo Library. That might work on the case commented by relaxedstability, that found an iPhone that is on iOS 14. But I'm just guessing here. All my devices are updated to iOS 15 and I can't test it for sure. My link is still missing too. I'm just relying on my previous experiences with downloading older compatible versions of an app. I hope it helps.

success. first time i created a new apple id/account - which would not let me download imovie from the app store and instead instructed me to upgrade to ios15 first. wiped the phone and setup again this time with my main/primary phone (ios15) account (logged in on both phones), and it allowed me to download imovie from the app store on ios14 and the original functionality to edit videos in Photos App via imovie extension has been restored. unfortunate i had to purchase a 2nd phone to solely-use dedicated for video editing/this feature.

I'm jealous and impressed. Now if Apple would do that for me, after all, they sold it to me, then took it away. Just like Adobe took back my $500 Photoshop. Just like Apple made 5 more clicks to closing out pages just so you can get carpal tunnel and give in to Siri. Never! Guess next upgrade I should read the small print, as if they put in there what they are taking away. "Are you sure?" ha ha ha
