My hot spot on my iPhone 12 won’t connect to my Surface since I upgraded to iOS 15.
The problem is that iOS15 only supports WPA3. The older Surface Pro 3 wifi driver does not allow for WPA3 connection.
You need to MANUALLY update the Surface Pro 3 wireless driver so it will allow WPA3 connection. The drivers will not pull in through the normal updates because Microsoft does not update drivers for Surface Pro 3's anymore. I found the driver for our SP3's here: Microsoft Update Catalog (the 2nd item down in the list).
If you are not sure if you can do this update - do not proceed! Call your local IT friend to help..
This will update the driver for the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller to version 15.68.17015.112
If you do not see the 'Marvell AVASTAR Wireless..' device, do not proceed with the following...
Download and extracted the drivers to a folder. Microsoft Update Catalog (the 2nd item down in the list)
Open device manager --> Network adaptors and right click on the Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller
Click on 'Update Driver'
Then click on 'Browse my computer for drivers'
Then browse for the folder you created with the extracted downloaded driver files:
When it is done updating - reboot and you should be able to connect to your iPhone/iPad iOS15 Hotspot.
Jack you are a genius! Works... thank you.
I think in your case I would go and check on a USB wifi card which supports wpa3. or if if you ok to take it apart do reseaech on which card supports it and change the one you have inside.
Recommended for Surface Pro 3..download Marvell AVASTAR Wireless-AC Network Controller to version 15.68.17015.112 and install..you are genius Jack..thank you.
This worked great for 20 of our systems thank you @jack123654
