Calendar sharing not working for MacBook Pro

Set up Family Sharing.  Family calendar automatically appeared, but if anyone in group adds an event via their device, the event will not show up for anyone else.  So, thought I’d use the workaround suggested by Apple and from my MacBook Pro Calendar app, I sent calendar sharing invites to Family Group members.  Now, if I add a calendar event from iCloud.com, it will show up for my family, but won’t show up in the Calendar app on my MacBook, even though iCloud.com and MacBook are logged into the same Apple ID (mine).  Conversely, anything added on MacBook calendar will not show up in my iCloud account, or for my family.  Calendar app is enabled for iCloud on all devices, including MacBook, and all IOS’ are up to date.  Why won’t my MacBook share the shared calendars with any other device or iCloud.com (again, even when logged in to the same Apple ID)?  Also, why won’t Family calendars won’t work for the members of the Family Sharing group to begin with?

My Mac wasn't using a VPN and I was not receiving any errors when I'd create a calendar event on my Mac. Had a gut feeling to check if there were any new Software Updates available. Lo and behold, the new "Device Support Update" appeared when I checked, and after installing, the Calendar app on my Mac is now syncing with iCloud and with the family members with whom I shared my calendars. So, this problem was solved EXCEPT there's still no explanation for why the Family calendar that appeared when we created a Family Sharing account wasn't working without sending out manual calendar share invitations to each other. We shouldn't need the workaround of sharing the Family calendar this way, but I'm glad the workaround is actually working, now, thanks to the Device Support Update. BUT PLEASE FIX THE FAMILY CALENDAR THAT APPEARS WHEN FAMILY SHARING ACCOUNTS ARE CREATED.

Hello Thunderdad,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, your MacBook doesn't show the Family Calendar new events with your family. We'll do our best to assist.

We saw your earlier post about this. It sounds like your Mac isn't communicating with iCloud properly. If you're using a VPN or security software, we'd recommend to disable them and restart the device, as these may be blocking the connection. This may be helpful: If you can't connect or sign in to iCloud

Once you've followed the above, make sure to test it out: Add events to your Family Sharing calendar

Should it persist, let us know if you've had to disable any apps up to this point. What happens when you create a calendar event on your Mac? Do you receive any errors?

Wishing you well, cheers.
