Won’t pair even with an adaptor?
iPad mini 6, iPadOS 15
But thats weird, isnt it. That i have to spend $125 when i already have an expensive apple pencil. Something tells me there’s no technical reason that it should be made “incompatible”, something a $4 adaptor should have been allowed to fix. Am i wrong?

Very disappointing and NOT well communicated in the descriptions or marketing material!
You are definitely wrong.
What was in my reply to you?
Both version of Pencil charge AND pair differntly.
You want a usable Pencil with iPad Mini?
I suggest purchasing the 2nd gen Pencil
The newer 2nd gen Pencil charges AND pairs magnetically from the side of the iPad Mini, just like it does with the newer design iPad Pro models and the 2020 iPad Air 4.
The older, original 1st gen Pencil does NOT charge OR pair in this fashion.
You want a usable and compatible Pencil to use with that new Mini, then you will have to purchase the newer 2nd gen Pencil.
No option.
Best of Luck to You!
1st gen Pencil IS NOT compatible with the new 2021 iPad Mini 6.
You need to purchase and use the more expensive Apple Pencil 2nd generation with the new 2021 iPad Mini 6.
These two Pencils charge and pair quite differently.
Sorry.
Actually it is on Apple's Website, if you did any previous research.
Pictures on Apple's Website shows the use of the 2nd gen Pencil

AND it is mentioned here, as well.
