But thats weird, isnt it. That i have to spend $125 when i already have an expensive apple pencil. Something tells me there’s no technical reason that it should be made “incompatible”, something a $4 adaptor should have been allowed to fix. Am i wrong?

You are definitely wrong.

What was in my reply to you?

Both version of Pencil charge AND pair differntly.

You want a usable Pencil with iPad Mini?

I suggest purchasing the 2nd gen Pencil

The newer 2nd gen Pencil charges AND pairs magnetically from the side of the iPad Mini, just like it does with the newer design iPad Pro models and the 2020 iPad Air 4.

The older, original 1st gen Pencil does NOT charge OR pair in this fashion.

You want a usable and compatible Pencil to use with that new Mini, then you will have to purchase the newer 2nd gen Pencil.

No option.

Best of Luck to You!
