Hi, after upgrading to IOS 15, voice address input into navigation apps no longer works, application does not hear me. Tried google maps, yandex navigation using two different iphones 12 and two different cars with carplay support.
to reproduce open google maps or other nac app and click mic icon for address input.

I also had this problem. Since my native Apple apps worked with the carplay microphone I guessed it was Google Maps specific so I posted here as well
Anyway, after verifying that Google Maps had access to the microphone because it was working fine up until recently I thought maybe reinstalling would work and it did, but it took a couple of tries. Here's what didn't work and what did work for me
1. Didn't work
Uninstalled Google Maps.
Turned iPhone off
Turned iPhone on
Installed Google Maps
Launched Google Maps
Glimmer of hope. It asks for permission to access location , microphone, and contacts.
I'm able to give access to microphone and contacts but not location. If go
to Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services Google Maps isn't
listed (Google Calendar is, but not Gmaps).
Turn iPhone off
Turn iPhone on
Google Maps appears in Settings -> Privacy -> Location Services and I grant it access
Test with microphone using CarPlay is unsuccessful
2. Did work.
Uninstalled Google Maps.
Turned iPhone off
Turned iPhone on
Installed Google Maps
Turned iPhone off
Connected USB cable in car for CarPlay
Turned iPhone on
Launched Google Maps
Am able to grant access to location services, microphone, and contacts
Tests using microphone in car seems to work. Will continue to test and validate.
Still running iOS 15.2 and GMaps 5.88. I've noticed the following:
Well I updated to iOS 15.1.1 last night and this morning I was able to use a voice command on google maps.
I solved this issue by uninstalling and reinstalling Google Maps.
Had this issue for some time when using Whatsapp. Deleted Google Maps from phone 2 days ago, voice recognition using Whatsapp now working again on two different vehicles.
The only way the voice command feature for Google Maps currently works in conjunction with CarPlay is with the Google Maps app OPEN on your PHONE. Responds every time.
Yes as someone else also above suggested... it does seem to work when Google maps is open on the iPhone, and this is a little bit annoying to have to do this each time. Must be a simple software glitch. Please get this sorted out Apple.

Apple said updating to 15.1.2 would fix it. It didn’t. 15.3 is now out but doesn’t mention a fix for the microphone in Google Maps.
To be sure, it doesn’t work the first time I try it but if I back out and try again, then it works fine as you stay plugged in. Stop the car and start over - same problem.
The simplest work-around is to open the Google Maps App on you phone and the voice recognition process works. It does for me every time without fail.

In my case, voice search only works if the phone is unlocked and the Google/Yandex Maps app is in-focus or when music is not playing (music app is not running). But while playing music (for example Yandex Music, etc.), voice search does not work.
I am having the same issue with three cars and I am updated to 15.1

Apple support suggested restoring phone to factory and then restoring from last backup.
Still not working for me as well with 15.2.1.
2020 Honda Accord EX-L with Display Audio.
iPhone 11. CarPlay worked perfectly with iOS 14.8. Filed issue with Honda. They called me the next day, said they are aware of the problem and are working with Apple to resolve the problem.
Yes I too still have the same issue with voice search not working the first time but seems to work when you cancel and a second attempt is tried on 15.3
Yes it works if you've got Google Maps open on the phone but this does defeat the object of being handsfree and I don't want my phone screen on all the time when driving.

Hi, these are general CarPlay issue.
The issue is not was activating carpal, its even completely works via Siri, it does accept voice commands. The issue is only with in app voice input, apps like good maps, yandex maps. Maybe its only within Russia region, but issue confirmed by multiple people I asked to give a try.
To reproduce - open google maps app via carplay, and try to add destination address via voice input.
