Some Airplay receivers dead iOS15/iPhone13

Recently picked up iPhone 13 and Airplay has gone from usually frustrating and mediocre before to mostly not working and very frustrating.

I can connect audio and video streams to Apple TV HD plus audio to an old Airport Express (Gen 2) but can’t Airplay to Gen 1 Airport Express and an old iHome speaker.

Odd thing is with Apple Music playing, I can see these devices and can select them in the Control Center Airplay menu with a check mark to show it’s been activated, but the music stays on iPhone speaker. I can switch back and forth between the device and iPhone in the menu with music continuing to play as though I’m not selecting anything.

Restarted everything including network gear, WiFi off and on, and different audio sources like Spotify.

Annoyingly, my 2018 IPad on iOS 15 airplays to a ones that the iPhone can’t (mostly) and an iPhone 6 can stream to everything except Apple TV though it used to before TV’s recent update.

Sigh, the more features, the more complexity that not even a trillion dollar company can fix.
