Using an Alias and patch change to change a Space Designer preset

I currently use Mainstage as a giant effects unit. Sending audio or live instruments into it and using the channel strips as FX units.

I currently have AudioEase Altiverb as a plug-in and can change what preset loads up by assigning a rotary knob to one of it's parameters (called the Automation Preset Index) and changing the reverb per patch that I make. I do this by making a patch with Altiverb in and making subsequent patches, aliases of this original patch so I'm not loading a separate Altiverb every time.

I would like to do the same thing with Space Designer but am having trouble with working out how to do it as you can't map the same function. I can map to Preset Name and change presets with a rotary knob but this only works if you make a new patch every time. Is there a way to make an Alias of Space Designer in a patch and still change the preset? So I want to be able to load one instance of Space Designer, with subsequent aliases doing preset changes to save on CPU. Can it be done?! Thanks in advance.
