Apple TV 4K to tvOS 15 wireless audio sync issues

I updated my Apple TV 4K to tvOS 15 and now, all my *Apple* devices will not sync audio wirelessly. This includes AirPods, AirPods Pro, AirPods Max. Doesn’t matter what I’m watching, or what app/service I’m watching, the audio is out of sync. I tried using the calibrate wireless audio feature in the settings, but when I try it defaults the audio output to TV speakers which doesn’t have any problem…because it’s wired! So not sure what wireless audio sync is good for if it’s only checking if wired audio is synced. The closest fix I could find, but it’s still really out of sync, is setting my video output to 4K Dolby Vision and turning off Match Content and Frame Rate. The problem with that is the TV menus are not in HDR, so if I change my TV’s input and then go back to the Apple TV input channel, the screen starts flashing green and static until I power reset both the TV and the Apple TV. Everything worked flawlessly before the tvOS update…BUT, I have the new Apple TV 4K which doesn’t have a USB-C port…so I can’t downgrade it back to 14.7. Anyone else with similar issues?? I will add that when using my HomePod stereo pair as the default output, the audio seems to be in sync, but if I try to calibrate wireless audio to the HomePods, the Apple TV changes the audio output to TV speakers. And even though it seems to by synced with HomePods, if I temporarily change audio to headphones it goes completely out of sync. I’ve also tried defaulting Video output to every available option and tried wireless audio, still out of sync.

What about Adjust video and audio settings on Apple TV? Have you taken a look to make sure all your settings are correct?

Still have the same problem as before. Since the update to 15.0, still audio such problems. Kind of a stupid problem to overlook.

I have the latest update on my Apple TV and the latest firmware for my AirPods Pro. Still falls out of such. Most annoying, since they advertise themselves as high end product, but go backwards on the headphone used with tv.

15.1 did not fixed the problem. Using the newest Apple TV and an AirPod Pro all updated to latest software.

not sure why it takes so long for Apple to fix this, it worked great with 14.

so unfortunate.

I also see this issue with my Apple HDTV running 15.1.1 and AirPod pros. Turning off frame sync may help audio sync but introduces video stutter. The audio out of sync creeps further away the longer the continuous stream. I have also noticed that if I pause and restart it slips closure to syncing. Also if the Apple TV auto starts the next episode of whatever you are watching it starts in sync, but alas after approx 10 minutes you can see the sync slipping. We get the sound before the video. How is this possible as both sources w coming from the Apple TV?

I have only noticed this mis-syncing since TVOS 15.

I have no sync issues with tv speakers or any connected soundbar just with AirPod Pro 4A402

Apple please acknowledge the issue and try and address.

I have the exact same experience. AirPods 3 start in sync. Then popping/crackling sounds happen and out of sync starts. Gets worse as time goes on. Taking them out of my ears and putting them back helps for a minute but then the cycle starts all over again.

Considering that all my wireless audio devices are native apple devices you would think that it would all be seem less but that’s obviously not the case with the release of tvOS 15

Also, I haven’t used apple discussions forum before so I think I inadvertently marked your answer as “correct” because I have already done what you recommended and the audio remained out of sync.

You can try 15.1 and sharirport sync work flawlessly. Or build shake port-sync for airplay2 keeping 15.0.

In both cases the issue is resolved.

Yeah, I have to keep taking an airpod out of my ear to “reset” the connection to my Apple TV to get it back in sync. I’ll get 5-10 minutes of in-sync then I have to reset again.
