iphone 13 pro max screen dimming

My new iPhone 13 Pro Max is dimming quite a bit as well as getting warm and there are no applications running. I have 1TB and have 490GB used. I wonder is it indexing behind the scenes after an IOS update. I just installed IOS 15.0.1. As I am typing this. no apps running, screen is 50% and auto brightness is off and back of the phone is hot to the touch. I have done all the recommended fixes but to no avail. I have restarted and it will go almost immediately into dim mode.

Tried this. Not helping much. Now a days the heating problem has gone up, especially while playing games. Within less than 5 mins, the display falls to below 30% of brightness and its killing the fun of everything.

Apple is not yet ready to accept it and has been telling me that this is a device specific issue. I've anyways shared this thread with the Apple team stating that its not device specific and many other users are also facing this.

let's hope Apple has a software fix otherwise when summer hits I have to exchange my phone for a new iPhone. Logging back into everything and setting up a wallet is a PIA for all this.

I wish they had a security bridge to transfer logins of all apps when updating. Basically taking authorization from the original phone and using it as a proxy to authorize logins for a new phone. Might need a new underlying API or something to offer software vendors to utilize this as each phone's ID and biometric changes. But it would be possible to authorize and login every app from an old phone using such a framework. But that’s a topic for another day. It’s pertinent because it’s the only reason I haven’t returned and exchanged my iPhone already.....it's just too much of a PIA

Thank you. Really annoying that Apple keeps splitting out different controls that affect the same function into different places. I've been hunting for a while to resolve this after doing the obvious. More features also seem to be buried in the Accessibility menu which isn't always logical. For the cost of the phone, I'm frustrated that I've spent so much time having to search with this. Screen brightness should also be maxed out of the box and then suppressed or changed given the choice. Weird

Hey thanks for posting. Great you might have found a workaround. I didn’t get the zoom in bit though. You do this with three fingers? I don’t get a menu. In fact nothing happens for me. Could you explain it again pls.

Still thinking this is ridiculous. That being said I think this might have always been a thing. What’s different this time is that we no longer get the warning icon telling us the phone is hot and needs to cool down. Now it just dims instead. Maybe they thought this would be a better option than the phone locking up entirely.

Thanks for that. Enlightening and it explains why, for me, why the same thing happens when it's charging too i.e. it makes sense it's the battery. Where or how might you have gotten to this conclusion if you don't mind me asking? I ask because I can't stomach being left to deal with a phone that costs me approximately £1200 (UK based) without Apple doing something about it. At least I want to take it further and report it to a few places that might be able to investigate the matter. At this point with them being this far ahead in phone production, I'm really surprised that this passed their tests.

I also have an iPhone 13 pro max. I am having same issues with my screen dimming when I’m outside on my covered porch while watching a video or playing a game. It gets so dim it’s hard to see what is happening on my screen. When I need it to be brighter it goes dimmer. I have had this issue since taking the phone out of the box. My iPhone 6+ works better than this expensive phone. Are there any plans on fixing this issue or is it simply a case of to bad so sad?

Tried every suggestion with no luch. Reducing White point worked for me. I was originally set at 80% and turned it off. It might have been too much so I upped it to 50% which seems to be pretty good. I'll try that for a bit. If that is insufficient, I'll have more to work with. Just don't know what dropping the White Point does to the screen, camera, photos, or is the White Point setting a matter of personal preference? Thanks for all the advice.
