No Continue Watching on Apple TV

I can’t seem to find the continue watching on Apple TV. I’ve scrolled through the app on my iPhone, my TV, and my iPad. The use play history is selected. This is very annoying as I have to restart episodes over and over again. Any suggestions?

I got it to work....temporarily.


I turned off Use Play History in Settings. Then I turned it back on and it worked for awhile.


Unfortunately the behavior returned and that trick didn't work this time.


Also, I tried Clear Play History but that fails with message "Wait and try again."


Waited many times. Tried again many times. Same error.


It is CLEARLY a bug that recurs in Play History. Something is getting corrupted.


No other TV app has this issue. Netflix, Prime, Hulu, etc.

It is still broken. Something is getting corrupted as I can't "Clear Play History" which was one workaround I had found that worked sometimes.


Had to uninstall and reinstall EVERYWHERE and reset my account to get it to work again. Then I had to add my shows back, which lost track of episodes I already watched.


This application is buggy. Only Paramount Plus and Showtime apps have been worse in my experience. I thought it might have been resolved by now.

From the general main screen from your Apple TV go first to Settings, the icon with the cogs. There you will find the menu item Apps. On the next screen just under APP SETTINGS, choose TV. And there you have it: Use Play History.

Google for “apple tv use play history” also will help.


Next time in Apple TV after watching something it will show where you left.

Happens to me too, on AppleTV on iOS, GoogleTV and AppleTV box. Between devices, I could see maybe there’s something that needs additional work to sync, but even if I pause and walk away and come back to the same device it forgets my progress. It’s maddening. I’m not going to remove and reinstall every time this happens. There should be a long term fix.

this is the most frustrating streaming app, it refuses to start from where I was watching.. And yes I've tried your "Apple suggestion" continue from the play next option but no that DOES NOT WORK. If walk away from the TV for a bit the screen will fall asleep and there goes my spot on the show I was watching... This has had happened so many times it makes me not want to use Apple TV. I've been trying to watch after party and keep having to fast forward and find out where I'm at while accidentally ruining future scenes for myself..
