I use to be able to be in my kitchen, cooking and ask my Homepod “Hey Siri, please add garlic to my note weekly shopping.” Never had an issue. About a week ago all my devices now respond “sorry, I can not help with that.” And I am prompted on my IPhone to just open notes. Was this feature taken away? It was so handy and quick especially while cooking, but also for quick notes I need while multitasking at work. Any advice is appreciated!
I have found an alternate way to make a grocery list (and other lists) that Siri can edit (add to). But first a quick note that Apple doesn't seem to want to resolve the issue with Notes app.
OK, the way to create a checkbox grocery list that can be edited by Siri, is with the Reminders app:
You can copy the grocery list from Notes and paste into Reminders List.

I'm very sorry about it, in my family we have some shared notes (like the shopping list) where we all add things to buy and it was very convenient to ask Siri to do it... ;(
We have noticed the same issues with Siri not wanting to edit notes anymore! She did it just fine before iOS 15 and it was a lifesaver to add stuff on the fly!

I just updated my software to 15.2 and Siri still will not edit my notes app. Extremely frustrating
Yes please fix this Apple. Editing my notes was one of like 3 useful things Siri did for me!!!!!!!!!!!!! Such an essential tool for executive function.
I'm glad to know others are noting this problem. It is my number one use for Siri. I used it daily. It is truly a loss of functionality for me.
