Unable to install iPadOS 15.0.1 on iPad pro 10.5 (256 gb)

Hi,

I am unable to install iPadOS 15.0.1 on iPad pro 10.5

When 15.0.01 has been downloaded and the preparing has been finalized, I then click “Install” and then “Install now”. Then the “little whell” starts to turn and then nothing happens except that the wheel keeps turning.

After two hours I pressed the On buttun and the home button at the same time in order to regain access to the iPad.

I have tried to reset my iPad completly (Install as new iPad) and tried installing iPadOS 15.0.1 again but I get the same problem again.

Do you guys have any suggestions on how to solve this?

Assuming you're trying to update your device wirelessly (via wifi), see this suppport article:--> If your iPhone, iPad or iPod touch won’t update

If the issue persists, try to update it via computer:

Learn how to update your device manually if you're using a Mac with macOS Catalina or later, or if you're using a Mac with macOS Mojave or earlier or a Windows PC.

The issues is mentioned everywhere on the internet and happens mostly on ipad pro 10.5 cellular and older Ipad models. It has nothing todo with over crowded download servers.

People are walking in the local apple store with similar issues here. Its a bug in the update somehow. Apple has to resolve this. The solution is using the Apple Configurator 2 App on a apple machine and update the ipad. Itunes or Finder produce a 4000 error and fail also on updating.

I have the same problem installing IOS 15.0.1 on my iPad Pro 10.5. for a whole week. I downloaded the update to my iPad, and tried everything including : hard reset, updated through I tune, delete the update, even reset all setting…etc but iPad would not install the update. The message on my PC display “unknown error occurred (0xE8000084).” Finally, out of Curiosity, I tried the following steps: 1) reset all setting, 2) then update ISO 15.0.1 immediately from my PC through iTunes and it worked! The trick is, after you do the reset all setting, don’t download this update 15.0.1 to your iPad, Let your PC update it this way on its own. So happy! As I would not want to ease everything on my iPad for this update as a finally solution.

I have the 9.7" iPad Pro cellular model which always has issues updating beta and normal releases. The update downloads ok, goes through the preparing bit and then starts installing, installing, installing..... and never ends. It seems to be losing the wifi connection as sometimes it displays the "unable to check for update" error. I don't usually have a sim card in it but shutting down and installing a sim card, rebooting and starting the update again ALWAYS works. So if you're having issues updating a cellular iPad and don't have a sim card in it, try putting a sim card in and restarting the update.

Hope this helps someone, cheers H.
