QuickTime can't open the .mov file

The movie is from 2008. Created using iMovie (actually a transfer from a VHS). Is there any way to fix this? I tried importing into a bunch of third party apps (Handbrake, for example) and VLC at least gets me this far.

That seems to be an iMovie reference movie. If the rest of the iMovie project and the referenced media files are intact, that could be exported via MPEG Streamclip (32-bit app that works in Mojave or earlier, also via VMware in later macOS).

Thanks, but I gave up. I found that I still have the .dv files in a folder called "Media." (they were under .dvdproject or something similar. Sorry, I don't have that memorized). Since those were still there I could open iMovie and import the .dv files. It is a simple case of rebuilding those bits (sort of like working from the Video_t files. PS I have an old MBP that is very slow and I haven't reformatted or done much of anything, except to keep it on life support. For kicks, I dragged the files to a flash drive, and put them on the MBP that is running El Capitan. Nope. Get a different message but still couldn't open and a drop down directed me to a different rabbit hole. :-)
