Now that the remote app is in control centre it loses connection to tv every time your phone screen goes to sleep and there is no way to reconnect but to close and reopen control centre to reconnect……. Terrible update please fix

This is happening to everyone. You have to reconnect the remote to your Apple TV every single time you leave the remote and come back. This upgrade is a complete fail

Today, restarting the phone fixed the "phone screen sleep connectivity" issue. Last week, I restarted, this issue re-appear again after sometime. Had to restart the phone today.

I agree. I now can't use my TV with the phone and will have to go back to the old remote.

The problem is NOT with setup. It's with maintaining a connection after the screen goes to sleep.

They just want people to go back to the remote control devices to sell more of them!

I am surprised that Apple have not yet identified and fixed this issue.

I would love to know a work around.

If anyone at Apple views these messages I am happy to explain the issue over the phone.

Update to my earlier post: Apple has apparently fixed this app. Now, it is stellar in performance (never loses connection, stays on screen, always instantly ready to go). Thanks, Apple!

I set up Apple Home on the Apple TV and my iPhone. It now works smoothly without disconnecting.

Thank you DonaldHVAC! Setting up Apple Home on the Apple TV fixed it instantly. The control center remote has been worthless since it launched. Apparently this was all it took. 🙄
