Now that the remote app is in control centre it loses connection to tv every time your phone screen goes to sleep and there is no way to reconnect but to close and reopen control centre to reconnect……. Terrible update please fix

Apple - Start testing your updates properly. Every single update breaks something else. I don’t WANT to go to Control Center to control my Apple TV. It’s another step. And it forced me to go there because you also killed the app! So I’m now back to using the Apple TV remote like I did THREE YEARS ago! Fix it!!!!

Apple has dropped the ball on this. They recently botched the Siri functionality within remote. When you first initiate, the microphone icon hovers in the upper right corner, indicating the lock button is now responsible for this function. When the lock button is pressed, the phone locks. Long hold and the remote screen closes, going to system Siri. Why mess with something that worked before? How did this iteration even survive development?

This is happening to everyone. You have to reconnect the remote to your Apple TV every single time you leave the remote and come back. This upgrade is a complete fail

I agree. I now can't use my TV with the phone and will have to go back to the old remote.

The problem is NOT with setup. It's with maintaining a connection after the screen goes to sleep.

They just want people to go back to the remote control devices to sell more of them!

I am surprised that Apple have not yet identified and fixed this issue.

I would love to know a work around.

If anyone at Apple views these messages I am happy to explain the issue over the phone.

You can use Shortcuts to create an icon and/or widget that opens the Remote and connects it to a specific Apple TV.

When I access the remote from Control Center, it always connects to the last device I used.

So I now have to do extra work and create a shortcut or widget so that a basic function that was included in the app works properly on the new remote? Cool, makes total sense…

Also they removed the Siri function so another fail there.
