UPDATE: We have also seen this with iOS 15.0.2 for some staff.

THE FIX: Make a change to the mail account configuration. Restart the device and test the affected email account in the Mail app. The change we have been making is to the "Mail Days to Sync". Change it from whatever it is now to something else. Then restart the device or wait until tomorrow.

Settings app > Mail > Accounts > [Exchange account] > Mail Days to Sync: change to something else.

Back out of Settings app.

Restart phone and open Mail app to test.

Hello Bhasker128,

Thank you for using Apple Support Communities. Based on your post, after updating to iOS 15, the Mail app requires you to enter in your email password daily.

Which email account is it prompting for the password? Do you have any issues signing in to the email provider's website?

Does this happen with iCloud Mail? If so, what happens when attempt to sign in here: Sign in to iCloud

Hoping to hear back, take care.

No, this is an Apple iOS 15 issue, not your workplace's IT department. Apple needs to investigate.

I have a user that updated from iOS 14 to 15.0.1 a few days ago and they are experiencing the same issue with the Mail app and their work email (Exchange). They have to enter their work email account password everyday, or if the phone is restarted. Their personal Gmail account does not have this issue in the Mail app.

i have this problem too. prompts every two days or so.

Mine happens with exchange mail account where I use a password generated specifically for the iOS client. This password is different from the password I use on macOS to access same exchange account using outlook. Could iOS be syncing these?if not, it’s forgetting the password

it only started when I moved to iOS 15 but it happens to be when I changed phones too. (iPhone 13). My account was migrated with your phone to phone sync.

UPDATE!

Due to the long holiday Thanksgiving weekend, I decided to delete my Exchange email account from my iPhone so I didn't get pestered with any email or calendar notifications. (Yes, I know I could have just turned off Mail and Calendar, instead).

When I re-introduced this account as New from scratch, I have yet to be bothered by the password prompt - now going on four days, which is the longest since this issue had arisen. Finger crossed!
