Apple TV remote app won't connect

I also wasn’t able to connect my phone to my Apple TV and I couldn’t figure out why because it was logged into the same Wi-Fi network. Seemed that my phone needed to verify my iCloud account and then it started working. Hope this helps someone!

For me, I had my other Apple TV's apart of a home and the one I was having the issue with was acting as a hub for another home. I removed home information from all devices and recreated a single home with all devices. Now I can control them all with the IPhone remote app.

1. Make sure both devices are logged into with the same account.

2. Go to the home app on iOS and delete any homes setup.

3. Reboot both devices. You should now be able to manage which devices will have control from the AppleTV settings.

4. If you wish to use the Home App to manage your devices make sure every user is added to the home you create.

I'm glad things are working out for you. I understand how frustrating it can be to have issues like this. As a personal customer and professional admin for Apple Products for over 14-3years, I completely agree with some of the buggy releases and their lack of effort to resolve some of them in the manner they used to do. Personally, I liked having the official app lol. It was a lot more consistent for me than the CC widget.

Please bring back the old remote app. This new one in control center is nothing but bugs. Most of the buttons do nothing. I am up to date on all software on my Apple TV, iPhone, iPad, etc. nothing works right while I never had any issues with the old remote app that Apple doesn’t let me access anymore. Very frustrating.

If anyone at apple is reading this PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE BRING BACK OLD APP which I personally put in control center BUT IT ALWAYS WORKED PERFECTLY I used it for 3 years never a hiccup, now the remote has worked since it was permanently move to control center.

I do not agree. The old app works much less reliable and seems was no longer supported. What is needed by Apple is to fix the latest software to reliably connect. That is the software in the control center, which does not have much in common with the old iOS app except for the name and perhaps some lines of code. Therefore it is better to simply ask Apple to fix buggy software.

I have this too. Just stopped working. Have repaired no problem. Also the calibration popped up a notification once now never again. Can’t calibrate anymore.

Calibration is available in Settings﹥Video and Audio﹥ on the Apple TV box

at any time. No need to wait for a (new) notification.

Do you also have an Apple TV (4th generation)?

Silly thing that seems basic -- is your phone bluetoothed to the ATV4? I was having trouble getting the phone to recognize my ATV, linked them via bluetooth, huzzah, connected, remote works.

I am talking about the built in app on iPhone 13,pro I upgraded from the XS and it worked fine now only connects the first time after that does not connect after that at all.
