Charge Macbook with 2 different chargers at the same time.

I use a dell dock WD19 that supports USBC charging at 130 W. My macbook will stop charging after the fans turn on, I will get a plug icon on top of the battery saying "not charging". I assume this is for safety reasons, however I am able to charge my macbook with no issue using the standard macbook pro charger.

My question is, if I charge the macbook with the orginal charger(96W) AND at the same time keep my doc (130W) plugged in, will this overcharge the battery or degrade it faster?

See below for examples:

Thanks

MacBook Pro 15″, macOS 11.6

The controlers on the Mac will choose only one appropriate source. It will have no impact on your battery.

Is there a way to monitor which power source the controllers are choosing?

Poke around in System Information—> About This Mac > System Report—and see what that shows for charging information. Within the display, you should find a Power section with some AC charger information, and that should make the current selection clear. But as mentioned, using two chargers in parallel is... unusual.

Why would you want to connect two chargers if only one is being used.? A higher wattage charger will not charge your computer faster.

From: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201700

"Power adapters for Mac notebooks are available in 29W, 30W, 45W, 60W,

61W, 85W, 87W, and 96W varieties. You should use the appropriate wattage

power adapter for your Mac notebook. You can use a compatible higher

wattage power adapter without issue, but it won't make your computer

charge faster or operate differently."
