Trying so change my ID to an email I have, but it's saying it's already in use.

I don't remember creating an ID with that email address before, but maybe I did? And, now I can't get in because I don't know the security questions. How do I get access back so I can change my primary ID?

If you see the message "not sufficient information" see if at this stage you can still sign up for Two Factor Authentication:

Case study:

"It is saying my new email is connected to an Apple ID, I only have one ID so I have no idea what it could be connected to."

Later: "They [Apple Support] think someone accidentally made my email their id like a typo and once its linked they cant unlink it."

Of course the whole thing could be an entire fabrication. Some start with the premise nothing on the Internet is true, in which case the person is making up the whole thing and completely lying about what they claim Apple told them.

Hey there - yup, I am aware of that and thought that maybe all the experienced Apple users may have the magic bullet. I also called support and talked to a nice lady. She said there was nothing they can do. I can't believe this. I can't believe there is no path to recover an ID for an email address that is yours. Ugh!

Appreciate the response.
