Logic crashes when recording audio starts

Hardware setup hasn't changed, last month Logic started crashing anytime I try and record audio. It doesn't even make it to the count in, just immediately crashes.

Using a new file with audio recording

Shure X2U USB, tried with hubs, directly into a USB to C converter

Hi,

Make sure that any drivers for all your audio interfaces ( including the Shure USB ) fully support M1 / Big Sur and are up to date. Same for any third party plugins. Lots of incompatibility and lagging Big Sur support issues lately. Also avoid hubs for any audio interface.

Hope this helps.

Hi,

Some common causes of crashes are OSX conflicts with legacy third party products or a corrupt prefs file.

Are you using any plug-ins in the track you are trying to record?

Any control surfaces?

Corrupt preferences file can be the root of many problems.  Search this forum and you will find lots of threads.

You can rebuild the preferences file within Logic but you will need to reset all your personal preference settings. If you have set any custom key commands, this will reset them to the defaults.  You can save your personal/custom key commands as a preset before performing this step. See the Logic Pro User Manual.

Quit logic

The file is in  ~/Library/Preferences

Delete  com.apple.logic10.plist  file from the Preferences folder.

The preference files will be rebuilt next time Logic starts.

Hope this helps.
