iPhone 13 not automatically connecting to car bluetooth

I recently got a iPhone 13 mini, which I restored from a backup of my iPhone 8. I connected the new phone to the bluetooth in my car (2011 Subaru Forester if that matters) with no problem, but have noticed that every time I get in and start the car it does not connect automatically. I have to go into bluetooth settings on the phone and manually push the 'CAR MEDIA' to get it to pair again. My iPhone 8 never had this issue, and would connect automatically each time.

I've tried restarting the phone, turning bluetooth on and off, and deleting and re-pairing the device to no avail. Very frustrating. Any ideas?

I believe I've solved this issue. I deleted the device from the car's memory, and the car from the the bluetooth list on my phone. I then paired the phone using the voice commands instead of the buttons, and now it seems to pair automatically.

Hi,

Apple needs to figure it out asap as I have absolutely the same issue with the same phones. No problem with iPhone 8 in any car, but no automatic connection to brand new cars! I use a 2021 Volvo XC60, a 2021 MB GLC and a 2018 VW Golf. iPhone 8 worked fine with all, iPhone 13 mini fails. It is definitely not the problem of the cars.

Also I have issues with earpods...

The recent iOS update did not help at all...

I know from previous thread about another problem that Apple do read these and take account of them.

I also know, from pre-retirement life, that software, especially widely used software that has to take account of many phones and car types, is hard to fix and has to be thoroughly tested or it could create another problem, even worse.

I ask two things: -

  1. That everyone keeps posting here to keep the pressure on Apple
  2. That Apple comes on here to to tell their customers that they are working on it and their current estimate of when it will be fixed. I'm sure their lawyers can come up with a form of words that doesn't accept any liability but at least tells us that they care. On the evidence so far, they don't.

Very well said; I hope everyone keeps posting too. Even I find I’m starting to adapt and just gave up on making calls on the phone in the car. If anyone calls in I fumble to answer and put them on the phone’s speaker while I shout at the phone. I realize software updates are necessary but I also know no one will care enough at Apple to TRULY make it a priority. This is a very serious flaw that I’m sure could have been avoided.

Seriously! I cannot pair my 1phone 13 Premix to my car. The Jeep dealership had replaced my radio as it had factory error problems (That;s another story) but to he brief the stereo went out of control and flipped radio stations every second and had ac and heat turn on and the rear heat and car seat all n full max then full cold all at the same time. It was crazy! the dealership admitted Jeep 's own factory error and replace the entire radio system as it was found to be the source of problems. But now I cannot pair my 13 Promax to this car! Please help!

I have iPhone 13 Pro 512 GB with iOS 15.2 and it is not connecting to BMW E70 bluetooth automatically. Even manual connection fails. Tried many things - forget devices, pair them again, change device name, restart - nothing. Sometimes the connection is established until the phone rings and then the connection is lost again. My previous iPhone was 6s 128 GB and I had absolutely no issues with bluetooth connection with the same car.

Looking forward for some reaction of Apple development team and please, tell your validation team to run regression tests regularly in order to avoid breaking perfectly working feature.

I have a Hyundai Accent Gls and an Iphone 13 Pro Max & surprise surprise... I have the same issues. I'm ready to throw this phone out the window every-time I have to manually reconnect to the bluetooth 3 times. It forces me to forget my device every-time I get into the car. Please Apple fix this issue. I've updated, deleted the memory off my car. Super frustrating.

Like y’all. I just got a new iPhone 13 pro and I have to manually connect the Bluetooth in my 2014 Subaru. This wasn’t an issue going all the way back to my iPhones 5 - X. If this is an issue with my motorcycle, It’s going to be a lot more than inconvenient. Not really clear why I “upgraded” - a better camera - 5G that isn’t available yet - or maybe I just like to throw money away?

Having the same problem pairing my iPhone 13 Pro to my BMW 335i. Phone can see the car, car is asking for the code, but the phone goes into a loop waiting for the code and the join times out. Seems like this should have been fixed by Apple since this thread is now 3 months old. Very disappointing on the part of Apple...and a big time waster trying to resolve this!
