1 pixel wide straight vertical line, from top to bottom edges, pixels won't turn on

Vertical line of pixels won't turn on. It runs from the top edge to bottom edge of screen, perfectly straight line, looks like 1 pixel wide. It's under the glass and appears in Finder and when any app is running in area of the line. All videos and graphics not overlapping the line are normal. This started about 1 week ago. Restart, rescue, removing all peripherals, etc makes no difference. No obvious damage to structure of computer, everything else is normal. 2017 iMac 5k, 27", Big Sur.

rkaufman87, thank you for your suggestion to use Etrecheck. I did run the report and prefer not to put it on line publicly. The report found some unsigned files, some adware and blocked system extensions. Nothing related to the screen or hardware which is more likely the issue. Any software I run that overlaps the bad-pixel vertical line, will show the line, while that same window moved out of the bad-line territory will appear perfect. Is there a utility to test the screen and pixel functioning? I know the iMac has a built in hardware test but it is not raising any alarms. Below is a pic showing the line running thru a Safari window.

There is ZERO personal information in an EtreCheck report. It does us no good if you don't have multiple sets of eyes view it. I respect your decision however if you don't post the report then we are done here as there is nothing for us to diagnose. It is kind of like having a health issue and refusing to go to the doctor to have get their opinion.

Adware should be removed using Malwarebytes.
