The three dots “button” is a core element of the iPadOS15 User Interface - intended to simplify use of full/split/slide-over multitasking. This control cannot be hidden or suppressed.

Some Apps will require update by their respective developers to accommodate changes made within iPadOS. Until affected Apps are updated, there is little that you can do other than to seek assistance from the respective App Developer:

If you have any comments to make to Apple, the feedback pages are the appropriate channel though which to make comment.

Whilst understanding your specific complaint, I must counter that many (if not a majority) of users find the updated multitasking user interface to be both flexible and productive. For those that have difficulty, a resistance to learning about the new UI controls and features is perhaps a more accurate truth.

Your complaint concerning accidental triggering of the multitasking controls, by tapping the Safari address bar, can be simply explained…

Yes, unless you are extremely accurate in tapping only the address bar itself, a central tap can trigger the multitasking function. You have sub-consciously “learned” to tap the centre of the bar - because you have been conditioned to tapping the actual visible text to edit this input field. As this text is centre-justified, you are unwittingly attracted to the centre - where the touch zone for the multitasking button is located.

Now the [mental] fix that should resolve most of your issues - but accepting that you need to “reprogram” what might be several years of conditioned behaviour…

In Safari, the entire URL field is a “hot zone”. Just tap anywhere in the visible field (not just the visible text). Armed with this knowledge - and admittedly a little deliberate and conscious practice - you will quickly become accustomed to a slightly different way of using Safari. A new “habit” will emerge - and become your new sub-conscious behaviour.

I similarly reiterate earlier comment…

If you have any comments that you wish to direct to Apple, this is this most appropriate channel through which to direct your concern. Complaining at other contributors, who can only provide information, is not productive.

Remove them!!! This i-device is mine and I prefer to have it designed for the end user, me, not what you like.
Listen to your users.

Those are annoying and we keep tapping them instead of what we intended.
If you force us to accept annoyances like that, we _will consider alternative choices where you do not profit off us.

This is a user-to-user forum. You're addressing no one but your fellow users. We don't design anything for Apple and we certainly don't profit from you.

I'm not sure who the "we" is you're speaking of but each of you should submit feedback individually.

Hello ~ This thread was started by a fellow user like you and I not by Apple. Here is the link:

We are all volunteers here in this clearly defined forum and we volunteer to help with technical questions amongst ourselves so no one is upset about “complaints.” If we don’t want to help out we are under no obligation to do so. The fact if this matter is that no one here can make the change concerning the split screen and we can only participate in this thread in the same capacity that you do.

why are apple putting icons on the screen that obscure app elements? why do it at all. this is a terrible idea and means i cant actually access some functions in multiple apps.
bring back the option to disable multitasking at least.
the most baffling thing is that this completely ridiculous idea actually made it past the initial suggestion!
i suppose apple will now expect devs to work around this by redesigning their ui. rather than admit it was a terrible idea in the 1st place.
meanwhile, we will not be able to use these apps properly until devs rework their ui’s on a case by case basis.

Apple doesn't read here for suggestions or feedback. However, you can let them know what you'd like to see here:

Way too easy to hit the 3 dots when you have multiple tabs open, it’s bad design and I whilst support notes that it is there to help and can’t be removed (or toggled) it should be like most things a choice whether we want that help or not, I don’t want it there I want a basic screen without buttons that I don’t need. I can sometimes hit it 3 to 4 times when trying to open a tab….does that sound like it’s helpful?

..For those just catching up to this idea, try using the Feedback - Apple link selector..

That way, you can account for your own participation directly; & Apple will get it.

So many of us HATE this feature, why isn’t there an option to disable it?

No one here in this user-to-user forum could answer that with certainty. Though, of course, we can look back at history and see that Apple has a long one of giving people what Apple thinks they should have.

if they don’t start making this stuff optional then I will OPT OUT of future Apple Products

You should always buy the tool that best meets your needs.

We should have an option to toggle this.

It’s extremely invasive.

I understand the decision was made to help but it’s actually hurting us and getting in the way. The center top of our device screens has always been the spot where apps put things.

Now we have toil when dealing with a 3 dot menu which we didn’t even need. The old behavior of hover and drag worked fine. This isn’t a positive experience and is wasting a lot of my time.
