Have only noticed this on the latest release of iOS on my iPhone and iPad mini. When tapping on a link in mail or within an app that opens Safari the page doesn’t load on the first try. If you go back to mail or the app and tap on the link again it opens safari and the page loads immediately. Super frustrating. Have tried clearing cached and restarting however this did not resolve it.
After dealing with the same problems for months, I finally found a fix:
1) In Settings, open Mail
2) Under Messages, open “Privacy Protection”
3) Uncheck “Protect mail activity”
“Protect mail activity” hides your IP address and loads remote content in the background without opening messages. But disabling it is the only solution I’ve found that works. Links in emails now open for me on the first try.
Hi. I am also having a similar issue with the Kik Messenger app as well. If I am sent links or attachments they can’t be opened from the app and it freezes. I need to shut the Kik app down and restart but still it doesn’t allow me to “click” on any links or attachments. I think this is an IOS issue and not Kik. Any suggestions?
I cannot get any links to open at all on my iPad Pro.
this is very frustrating and and I can only copy the text of the link not the underlying address so cannot get to the page by other means.
Please can someone say how to resolve this? I have upgraded to the latest update and restarted both the Mail app and the iPad
If I'm Twitter, this is a HUGE problem.
From a user POV, it has seen my interaction with Twitter drop measurably - as linking from Mail tends to be my entry into Twitterverse.
For me, this started with iOS 15. Would be ok seeing a fix soon.
This is still an issue and a very frustrating one. Even opening the link to this discussion only works on the second try from the email. Good to know it’s not just me though. Have tried searching but not found any solution as yet
Same here, also tried uninstalling and reinstalling Twitter (the app that I link to from Mail most often). No joy.
i have essentially been unable to use Twitter since ios15. (Just comes up with “Nothing to see here -Yet”)
i would be happy to roll back to 14 to get this functionality back…

Clearly, the solution is in Apple’s (and Twitter’s?) hands. While it’s likely a blessing we can’t link to Twitter from Mail, for me it’s more about a functionality that was there and now, mysteriously, isn’t, that has me slightly agitated.
Less twitter in my life is probably a good thing. Maybe it’s a “feature.” ;)
Exactly the same issue for me on iPhone 12, ios 15.1. First click on the link from email will open safari and safari looks like it’s trying to open the page but never actually open it ( I don’t have the patient to wait for 5 minutes so I don’t know if eventually safari will be able to open it or not). Only after going back to Mail and click on the link again, the page will load immediately!
It’s certainly ios issue and it’s easily replicable, please fix it!
I’m not sure that’s the same as this but could be related somehow.
I have only found this an issue when clicking a link in email or an app that then opens a Safari window. The loading bar starts to fill but stops after a brief moment and never finishes loading. If you go back into the email and click the link again, Safari opens and it loads up the page straight away the second time around.
This is the exact issue I’m seeing on my iPhone 13 Pro/256 running iOS 15.1.1.
When touching a link to a tweet from a Twitter email in Mail, it auto launches Twitter app (expected) then loads the “nothing to see here” message. This issue was not present on my launch day iPhone 13. So it must be some point update between then and now where things went wonky.
Again, that is the exact issue here. Since looking at this thread it seems I can force it to work through safari, sometimes it takes two attempts.
But the expected (and desired) behaviour of opening in the Twitter app never works. I always get the nothing to see here yet message.
as others have said, I never had this issue prior to the ios15 update.
we can’t be the only people affected, either Apple or Twitter need to pull their finger out. Don’t really care who’s fault it is, just want it fixed.
I’m not sure what changed… But I am now able to go to Mail, pull up an email from Twitter, touch a link to a post and and it auto launches the Twitter app to the intended post. This functionality has been broken for at least two months. Maybe more. And now, magically, working.

Still the same problem I originally posted about. Just tapped on a link in an email from Apple, it opened Safari and then started loading but never finishes. Back to email and tap the link again and straight through. So still happening. Maybe the Twitter issue is unrelated.
For the Twitter email links now functioning: I have confirmed that old twitter links still yield the “nothing to see here” message. So maybe “the fix” is the way Twitter is coding their email.
Interested to hear details on said fix.
Update - still broken in 15.2 😞
I was hopeful at first but it just failed to load accessing this discussion from a link in the native mail app.
All you get is the little blue loading bar in the left and it stops (as pictured). Go back to mail and click the link a second time and it works
It’s still a problem. Only on my end I can’t even go back to the email and click it again to get it to come up. iOS 15.2.1. Such a pain in the rear. And it’s not just Twitter either. It’s with a lot of hyperlinks.
