"Device is unreachable" Error message when trying to import media from iPhone to Windows 10 PC

I know this has been asked A LOT. And answered several times, but I wanted to post another solution.

Although changing the Photos settings to "keep originals" may help, it wasn't a solution for me.

In the end, using windows explorer, i made sure that i opened the source and destination folders using View / Details only ( in file explorer ) such that the thumbnails for source and destination files are not shown.

Once i set the file listing to details only, cut and paste worked fine.

Looks to me like windows explorer is trying cache & recache thumbnails.
