Safari 15 keeps logging me out of several sites every week or so

I've increased "remove history items" to 1 month - no luck

I've disabled all extensions - no luck

Still there are some sites which keep me logged in, but google.com, youtube.com, facebook.com, ebay.com - they are all throwing me out every week.

Other browsers doesn't do that.

Safari 14 didn't do that.

Am I alone with this porblem?

For others that are experiencing this issue -- can you confirm if the following steps reliably reproduce the issue for you?

  1. Open Safari and login to Gmail
  2. Open Safari Dev Tools (option + command + i)
  3. Reload the page (command + r)
    1. Result: you should still be logged in to Gmail at this point
  4. Open a new tab (command + t)
    1. Result: you should now mysteriously be logged out of your google account in the original tab

I have the same issue, I had opened a Feedback ticket/radar, but then closed it a week later because the problem disappeared. Unfortunately it is back. It really happens on many website all at once. For some sites it seems to forget everything that was stored locally on the client. For example the AWS web console usually remembers my account number and the services I last used. But after this "forceful" logout, everything is gone. It is as if I have never logged in to AWS before. It drives me nuts.

It keeps randomly hitting me. I had the same issues after upgrading. Then it seemed to go away for about 10 days. Today, it's constantly reset itself. I'm getting sick of having to go through two factor authentication, to then repeat it again, half an hour later. The only difference between today's activity and yesterday is that I have Visual Studio running and had Safari set as my testing browser.

I have a similar problem. Facebook, Yandex, Google, Youtube, Twitter, Instagram, VK and other sites. Technical support cannot say anything about this, except as "it should be" or "maybe these are the problems of the sites you are using." But: firstly, all sites cannot immediately break sessions; secondly, this is not the case in other browsers.

I've downloaded and started using STP since reading this thread with success, so far. I do use a USB-C hub to power two external monitors and wonder if that device is somehow to blame for the logouts. Also, most of the logouts happen when the computer goes into a sleep mode. For now, I'm glad I have a workaround.

„prevent cross-site tracking“ doesn't help for sure.

Still, the problem is a weird one.

I had a whole week without being logged out.

Then several one by one within one day.

Emptied the cookies, got another logout after hour or two.

Maybe I'm paranoid, but It looks like someone "commands" safari to logout from outside...

I spoke with a Senior Apple Care Specialist who helped me collect the logs and forward them to the Safari engineers. Yesterday I received an answer that Apple is aware of this problem, it is widespread, users bombarded support with similar complaints. According to the support specialist, the next update will fix the bug.

Good news, let's hope this will work out 🤞

Running Safari 15.2 on latest Monterey (12.1) and seeing this issue pretty constantly.

When this happens to me it happens all at once, but not to every site I'm signed into.

For example, when it happens I always get signed out of: all google apps pages, Facebook, twitter, LinkedIn. But at the same time, when it happens, I do NOT get signed out of Basecamp, or some other apps.

I thought at first there was some correlation with local web development I was doing, but that doesn't seem to be the case. I moved all local development to Firefox for a few weeks and the issue in Safari continues to occur.

Hoping this gets resolved in a release soon.

I've got this problem too. It doesn't affect every site. It seems to be Facebook, Twitter, and Gmail (Google) for me. What's even weirder is this only seems to happen when I have my MacBook plugged into an external monitor and it seems to possibly occur when the device sleeps. There is definitely a correlation between having something plugged into the machine and logging out.
