Cannot delete beats updater on Mac

Trying to remove the discontinued Beats Updater application from my iMac, but cannot. I receive and error message that reads: “Beats Updater” can’t be moved to the Trash because it’s open. It doesn't appear to be open (not in dock).

Two things to try.

  • Go to Users & Groups in System Preferences. For your user ID click on Login Items. If Beats Updater is one of the Login Items you need to delete it (- sign) after you have unlocked the padlock with your password. Restart the computer and try deleting again.
  • OR, start up in safe mode and try deleting from there.
