Screen Dim When Turning on iPhone 13 Pro Max

I have never had this issue with an iPhone previously and wondered if anyone else was experiencing it.

When I hit the power button to turn on the screen, it is really dim for a 1-2 seconds and then gets bright.

I noticed it does the same thing with all my notifications. When they first come through the screen is really dim for 1-2 seconds and then gets bright.

Anyone else noticing this issue?

Hi shawnm13,

We see the screen on your iPhone 13 Pro Max dims for a moment when powering on, and when accessing notifications.

To clarify, are you referring to when you first turn the phone on, during the power on sequence with the Apple logo, or just when waking it from sleep?

Also, is the iPhone warmer than expected when this occurs? If so, this can be expected behavior as the iPhone will automatically dim the display when it gets too warm as a safety feature.

Finally, toggle off auto-brightness in Settings > Accessibility > Display & Text Size, and then see if the issue persists.

Let us know, and we'll continue from there.

Cheers!

It happens when you push the sleep/wake button to turn the screen on. It also happens anytime the screen lights up for a notification or phone call.

I also notice when you close out an app when it goes back to the main screen there is a flicker animation that happens.

The phone is never hot when this happens as it always happens. I took the phone to the Apple store today and they couldn't figure out why it is doing it.

They said it could be a software issue and hopefully an update would fix it. Who knows?!?
