MacMail doesn't accept the correct password

I'm trying to install my IONOS email accounts on macmail and all of them give me an error: UNABLE TO VERIFY USER NAME OR PASSWORD. I just spent 3 hours with the IONOS technical service and they couldn't find any problems on their side. I did in fact, install the same emails on my iphone but my laptop mac mail continues giving me the same error. Help?

Who do they use to service eMails? If iPhone Mail works & Mac Mail doesn't, it is very likely below reason...

Many eMail providers now require a separate App Password different from your eMail password…

Then you may need Ways to securely access AOL Mail…

Or it may just need an App Password...

Yahoo has gone to this too...

Yahoo App password…

Generate and manage third-party app passwords

Some older, third-party email apps (that do not use our Yahoo branded sign in page) require you to enter a single password for login credentials. To access your Yahoo Mail account on these apps, you'll need to generate and use an app password. An app password is a long, randomly generated code that gives a non-Yahoo app permission to access your Yahoo account. You’ll only need to provide this code once to sign in to your third-party email app.

No, it doesn't ask on iPhones or iPads, most providers consider the Mac version of Mail not secure enough, but they do consider the newer Apple Mail version in iOS devices secure... that is what I'm trying to relay... I'll have to figure out a better way to get this across... if you have any suggestions on that my friend, I'd welcome them. :)

OK, but if that were the case, wouldn't the IONOS people know about it? I spent 3 hours with their technicians, trying to figure out what was wrong and they had no clue. And again, if that is so, how can I work around it? Also, some of the emails did work fine until yesterday. I deleted them by mistake and none, (those or others) are accepted today. I really am going a bit crazy with this.
