iPhone 13 camera not focusing when capturing a photo 8-10 cm away

My iPhone 13 camera is not focusing properly. It doesn't focus when it is around 8-10 cm away from the object for a close up shot. Is everybody with an iPhone 13 experiencing this problem? I went to my local store which diagnosed my device and they said that there is no problem. But I am very suspicious. So does anybody else have this problem? Can anybody confirm this problem?

It has nothing to do with your point of view. It has EVERYTHING to do with what your iPhone 13 is capable of. And what you want and expect it to do, it can't. I didn't design the new cameras. I don't work for Apple. No one here works for Apple on this user to user only forum.

But I was well aware of the difference between iPhone 13 and 13 Pro cameras and I chose the Pro because its cameras are more advanced than iPhone 13. There should be advantages to paying more for a product. And this is one area the Pro's outperform the standard 13.

I understand you're hoping it's a software thing. I can assure you it's not. iPhone 12, 12 Pro and 12 Pro Max did not have Macro photography abilities. People complained and Apple added Macro to the 13 Pro models this year. It's just not going to come to a standard 13. Sorry.

See this link and compare the features between iPhone 13 and 13 Pro. You'll notice the 13 Pro specifically says Macro Photography, which the 13 does not --> https://www.apple.com/iphone/compare/

You still don’t seem to understand what I mean and that’s just fine. I’m not referring to macro photography, I’m referring to taking a simple close up shot of a document and waiting for it to focus. Or something similar to this. Most phones can do this nowadays. It’s hard to believe that this is something you need to buy a pro version for. I fully understand what you’re saying and trying to tell me about the differences between the two phone and their camera capabilities.

You do not understand the original question and now you are arguing semantics. Up close does not always mean macro and it's been clarified several times that they do NOT mean macro. You could at least try being a little nicer when responding to these questions. It IS disappointing that Apple has created an "upgrade" that falls short. The solution is not just buying another new phone.

Again, the point is what can be done in a earlier generation phones cannot be done with the new. Not talking about Pro models here. If you know for a fact that that Apple chose to change the focal length of the camera so that it would not focus as the previous models, they chose wrong.

Since you seem to show extensive knowledge about Apple's technical decision-making process, do you also know the exact focal length of the iPhone 13 camera lens/es how that compare to the previous models ?

I don't like the phone at all. I have the 13 , my daughter the 13 pro. We tried to do self-timer photos and photos triggered from my watch for Christmas. There is nothing special about this phone. They are blurry. The photo app constantly freezes. The updated app's constantly just shut off. The iphoto videos from Christmas skip. I've been with Apple since the 5. I'm stuck with this.

That's not true. I'm getting the absolute sharpest macro photos from my 13 Pro Max than I've EVER gotten from ANY previous iPhone I've ever owned.

Same here; the macro photos from the 13 Pro Max rival those taken with the macro lens I have for my DSLR.

Of course I can come up with circumstances where that is not true as well, but again, most of the time it's simply incredible what's coming out of my phone.

I'm not telling you to deny that fact. But you should take into consideration that most people here are indeed comparing their current experience with what they had before. In that context, it's relevant to say that they should not expect to achieve the same results in this specific situation that is being discussed. That is if your intention is to help the ones posting here and not simply giving facts just because.
