Problems with gmail since iOS 15 upgrade

Since upgrading to iOS 15 and also changing my phone to iPhone 13 pro I am having constant issues with gmail through the mail app. It either doesn’t fetch my emails or comes up with an error saying the details entered are incorrect or that the server is not responding. I have deleted and re-added my account multiple times and have deleted the mail app and reinstalled. Also most of my folders that have mails in them are empty and I have to do a manual refresh for them to appear. This all worked fine before the upgrade

Thanks for letting us know, rachelmsalt.

Next, let's rule out the possibility that it is a server settings issue. You can use this link to confirm you have the correct server settings for Gmail: Mail Settings Lookup.

If we're still not seeing any improvement after that, let's also try connecting to a different network to make sure it isn't a firewall, security setting, or custom configuation on the network you're using causing the odd behavior. If you're using cellular data, try using Wi-Fi. If you're using Wi-Fi, try using a different Wi-Fi connection altogether.

If at that point you're still having difficulty, you can Contact Apple for support and service.

Take care!

Thanks for reaching out, rachelmsalt.

It sounds like you're having some difficulty with your Gmail account in the Mail app. We can definitely help.

First we'd like to try and narrow down the cause of the behavior you're experiencing. Can you confirm if any other email accounts on your device are behaving unusually?

If not, or if you don't have any other email accounts to test, check to see what happens if you log into Gmail from a browser. Are the issues you're describing still present when signed in from the web instead of the app?

Let us know, and we'll go from there.

I also experienced the same/similar issues when setting up Gmail on my new iPhone 13 Pro on iOS 15.2. I was able to get the app to launch, selected Gmail account…when it got to the next screen the app asked for username/password, I worked around the keyboard issue by pasting my Username and Password into each of their respective fields and it worked. So far, the app is behaving as expected.

I’m not having issues with other email accounts (iCloud) only with gmail when using the native mail app. When I use gmail on my browser the issues do not exist. I uploaded pictures of the error messages I am getting, have tried deleting and re-adding multiple times, reinstall of the mail app, reset network settings, force restart etc. this only started happening with iOS 15

I have the same issue. A block of emails from gmail do not show. From December to February. At first they didn’t show up on my unread count, nor would they show if I searched for them, now they show on my unread email count and and if I search for them. If I go to gmail , of course they are all there. Same phenomena from my iPad. Try turning on and off. Changing fetch settings. Going all the way down to my last email to try and force an update. Nothing going. A glitch has happened before where a bunch of emails ended up in my delete basket (not all but most) which I restored to my inbox. But this time is different, a 3 month window has disappeared from vue but his monitored (unread count), (font appear if I force to reveal only they unread mail), but yet can be read if I search for them ( if I know how to search for specifics). It feels like an apple problem.

I have similar issues, where emails dont fetch automatically, i have to not forget go to emails and slide up to load all the emails, i forgot how email notification look like after 15 version upgrade, same happens with gmail, icloud, yahoo, i tried everything, even changed my phone and still does the same, my whole family complains about same problem. I wish apple could fail on something less important than such an important things like email, its been months already apple cant figure out what to do about it. I hope they can come up with idea soon, before people start switching to samsungs. My business customer service became worse because im not able to reply right away having iphone with me.

I got the new iphone 13 PRO and setup the new phone and I have 6 gmail accounts in addition to my icloud account, and 4 of the gmail accounts are GSuites for business with my own company domains, and only 1 of the gmail accounts is working along with the icloud account. The other ones 1 gmail and 4 gsuites for business didn't load any messages and giving errors that the password is missing or incorrect. It doesn't let me go in and enter the password. I followed the other advice by restarting after upgrading from 15.0.2 to 15.1 since the phone shipped with 15.0.2 and it was still not working. This is very frustrating not having these work on apple mail. I was hoping to not have to use outlook for IOS but unless this works I am wondering what options I have. My businesses are run off my gsuites for business gmail accounts. Any help would be appreciated, wanted to resolve online myself instead of having to go into an apple store.
