Any observed latency will not be due to your Apple Pencil. Whilst the Pencil and iPad should have very little observed latency in normal use, available system resources and CPU loading may have some impact. Force-closing un-needed Apps is generally unnecessary, however, doing so can sometimes resolve or alleviate memory management issues.
To force-close any Apps, simply swipe upwards from the bottom edge to the centre of the screen, pausing briefly before lifting your finger from the screen; the Task Switcher will open - showing a thumbnail image of each App that is running or is in a “suspended” state. Just swipe un-needed Apps off the top of the screen.
A forced-restart of the iPad may also be helpful, either in isolation, or in concert with force-closure of Apps. To force restart the iPad:
- On an iPad with a Home button: Press and hold the top button and the Home button at the same time. When the Apple logo appears, release both buttons.
- On other iPad models: Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the top button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.
