Bluetooth problems iPhone 13 and ios 15.0.2

Both my wife and I have new iPhone 13s with ios 15.0.2. We are both experiencing bluetooth issues with music (from our library) skipping or stuttering in her car. No problems with other bluetooth connections and no problems with with our old iPhone 8s’s connecting and playing in her car. I’ve restarted both phones, toggled bluetooth, and unpaired - paired but to no avail.

Car software is also up to date. I understand this is not a new problem. Is there a solution or software update in the works?

I have reported this issue now multiple times to Apple service Department in the Netherlands.

They do seem to understand the issue, but keep on saying that you have to factory reset your phone and try to restore it.

In my opinion this is not the way to solve the problem.

I did some further digging, the problem seems to be happening when an external device want to (re-) connect that was already previous paired. If they external device triggers the phone it goes working at the pairing proces.

When the proces is turned around: so delete all connections and forget devices, and then connect via the phone the connection is stable. This is for as long as you are connected, after disconection the issue starts again.

I did some tests with other apple devices and there the issue’s is not present / they work fine.

  • Iphone 6s (IOS 15.4.1)
  • IPhone SE2020 (IOS 15.4.1)
  • IPad Pro 12.9 2017 gen2 (IPad OS 15.4.1)

I have the same issue since iOS 15, I’m using a XS max.

(Tested it with an other Xs max with IOS 14.7 no issue.)

Temporary workaround is: de-authorize your phone in the Comand. And then external re-authorize it via the phone. Then it works fine until your connection is stopped.

it’s applicable for at least most of the Mercedes’ Benz comand systems NTG 4.x versions.

Probably the handshake between the dives goes wrong when they are already previously coupled.

I really hope apple will fix this annoying bug that is there since iOS 15. Because its definitely not the cars audio. All other dives that can stream music are working fine.

Hi bredfernsr,

Thanks for reaching out to Apple Support Communities. It sounds like you're having an issue with Bluetooth connectivity with music playback in your car. We're happy to provide some information to assist.

We'd recommend renaming your devices and testing the connection. Check out the section "Connect using Bluetooth" from the article here for more details. How to connect your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch to your car

If you continue to have an issue, check out the steps here: If you can't connect a Bluetooth accessory to your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

Best!

I have contacted Apple support several times now, and the response is that they don’t want to fix

this bug in the new iOS 15.0.2 update and then recommend me to try getting a Mercedes

mechanic to try to update the firmware in my cars stereo and see if it helps.

(the price for getting an mechanic to update this is 270 Euro and they don’t know if it

will work with this iOS 15.0.2)

I have the same issue after updateing from IOS 14 to IOS 15.3.1

the sound now is stuttering in my E300 2011 Mercedes

I have Iphone XS

before the update the sound was fine !!

i tried the following with no avail:

1- Restart Iphone

2- Deauthorizing and authorizing

3- Forget device and reconnect

4- Restart

5- Rename the blutooth name

no luck.. it seems the new IOS is the culprit

This happens in my car too but even beyond the car, headphones, speakers, any Bluetooth devices. Does this in my 2017 Buick LaCrosse, on my JBL headphones, on my Google homes, and my hdmx geo speaker when trying to play music via Bluetooth. I have an iPhone XR and it’s never had this issue with these same devices when I had iOS 12, 13, and 14. Only started doing this with iOS 15 and it’s not the phones fault or the Bluetooth devices fault it’s a glitch that needs to be fixed by Apple with iOS 15.

Having the same issue here.

iOS 15.3.1 on an iPhone 13 Pro and and iPhone XS. XS was fine on iOS 14 but as soon as it updated to 15 I've had issues with choppy bluetooth audio across several devices. The IPhone 13 Pro had bluetooth issue straight out of the box.

Both phones are unusable in a Subaru Outback 2018, reasonably expensive Sennheiser headphones and a portable JBL speaker.

Please do something apple. I'm way too deep into the apple ecosystem (mac, ipad, watch etc. etc.) to just change my phone now..
