I can see the preview of the text but when I open it I can’t see the responses. I can see what I sent but not the response.

Thank you for reaching out in Apple Support Communities. We understand you're unable to read text messages on your Apple Watch. We'll be happy to help.
If you haven't tried yet, we recommend to close the Messages app and to re-open the app. From there, let's see if you can read the text messages without any issues. Here's how to close an app. On your Apple Watch, press the side button, then turn the Digital Crown to the app you want to close. Swipe left on the app, then tap X.
Now if that does not help, please restart your Apple Watch and test: Restart your Apple Watch
