Screen wakes up in Snow and Odd Color

Quite often when waking Mac mini with M! the screen is snowy. Clicking mouse usually brings up a oddly colored window and I can get out with "Cancel".

Looked at the hundred similar threads started over the last 15 years and have found no solution. Recently put a top of the line Best Buy 1.5 foot HDMI cable on it. No help.

Why is there no Apple support? Nice newer Dell monitor.

Thanks,

Mike

I would second Jeffery A.'s comments. Thinking I had a defective new Mac mini, I went to my local Apple Authorized Service Provider to find out what I thought was my "premium" Amazon-branded cable, actually wasn't. After getting a quality HDMI cable, my mini has no problems syncing to my 4K Dell monitor, either from startup or wake-up from sleep. It was a "lessons learned" experience for me.

I had trouble with some of the big box retailers 'premium' HDMI cables for the two Mac mini's in my house. In my case it wasn't causing snowy artifacts on the display, but rather the display would not show any output after some time.

I spoke to the Apple Store staff and they advised me to purchase one of their 4K HDMI cables, Belkin branded, assuring me that if the issue was not resolved I could return the cables and book the Mac mini's in for a repair or replacement. As it turns out, the issue was resolved with the new, actually premium cables.

If you're able to consistently reproduce the issue with that cable, perhaps it may be worth talking to your local Apple Store staff about having their technicians perform a diagnosis on your Mac mini and offer their advice on a resolution.
