AirPods Pro Detected Near You

I’ve had the same thing for the past few days and I’d imagine its either some sort of exploit that was found to make your device believe there was someone’s missing device on you at all times so they can track your location, or (hopefully) an error. In my case its two separate pairs of airpod pros, which would not make sense to throw on someone to intentionally track, so I’d say that option is unlikely. When I search for either pair it just says it can’t connect. No one in my household owns a pair of airpod pros, so thats also ruled out. Just hoping it’s an error on apple’s part.

Same thing after leaving my local Verizon. why does this not have an answer yet ??? My location is still apparently being shared… I get why this could be helpful, but right now I feel it’s very intrusive. My security does not seem to be important to Apple as much as someone’s AirPods. least they know where I live !

This is scary. Never thought of the malicious intent that could come of these. people could just toss an air tag in your car and find where you live. Can’t say this is helpful when it works let alone when it letting others see your location randomly.

I’m getting this same notification as well as my wife. I know for sure they are from my daughters AirPods(my wife and I don’t own AirPods) so I know it’s nothing malicious. However, the notifications are rather annoying and would like them to stop

I just got this message today and it is freaking me out. My AirPods were in my apartment the whole time and these AirPods that aren’t mine were blocks away from my house and then near my apartment. Any updates?!?

This is happening to me as well, it has happen at least 3 times, I don’t own airpods, it is starting to happen to me daughter she does owns AirPods

but she got this message yesterday while we were away from home and her airpods were not with her

this is scary, apple definitely needs to fix this ASPA

I’m getting this message for my own AirPods.

My phone recognises my AirPods as my own (I can see them in the FindMy app). Also, when I play the sound after clicking on “discover more about this item”, it plays the sound on my own AirPods).

the only thing I can think off that may be causing the issue is that I’ve connected my airpods to my wife’s phone. I’ll try run some tests and get back to you guys.

The same thing happened to me tonight. I’m relieved to have found this thread but still really shaken up. It appeared from the notification that someone had put the AirPods on my person or car and could track them to my location. If this is a glitch it needs to be resolved immediately or at the very least Apple should officially notify customers so they aren’t sitting up all night watching the windows and doors like I am.

I’m curious if others have iCloud+ Pr ivate Rela y? Also likely “they” added or changed a database field reflecting product improvement update. 

Did anyone fill out a bug report? or proceed to lose their minds and call the police (better if you called your psychologist lol)…

Just got this today and it’s freaking me out that I can even be seen. It’s showing my exact location since 10:30 this morning and it’s not 4:30pm. I can see everywhere I’ve been today. Apple, you NEED to do something about this ASAP

I got the alert again yesterday and it tracked to my own AirPods for the first 5 minutes. After that it stopped showing up on the locator. Idk what’s up but maybe it’s some kind of bug, or hopefully not, some exploit that people are using.

I got a lemon I-Phone 13 and it took 3 weeks to get a replacement. I got mine today and now the AirPods Pro Detected Near You pops up. I don’t own AirPods but it shows me the location of an area I walk on occasion. What is this?

Should have updated here. I found the issue was that for some reason my AirPods were coming up as someone else’s. I think I ended up just removing them from my phone and doing a reset on the AirPods. Haven’t had the issue since then.

A random guy showed up at our office claiming his airpods had been stolen at a restaurant and that his location tracker for his airpods showed they were in our building. Really? Is this a new scam of some sort? Someone told me that these airbuds are tracked using any iphone that's connected to the internet. If our iphones are being used to help people find lost or stolen property there must be a way to opt out. Right? Really don't want strangers coming to my house or office looking for stolen property. Talk about a security concern.
