iPhone 13 pro voice cuts and the other person can't hear me

I have an issue where my iphone 13 pro voice cuts out on speakerphone calls, not for me, but for the person on the other phone. Anyone else having this happen? The speaker grilles are clear.

Same problem here with brand new Iphone 13 pro. Voice cuts out on speakerphone also. That is the main way I use the phone. At the moment I have to answer with it in my ear speaker and talk into the phone that way. Thsat is better for the other caller I called. But... That is NOT acceptable for a $1599. new phone as of 10 days ago!! I have appointment at the Genius bar in Knoxville today at 12:15pm. I will update this with what they say. Otherwise I will be forced to return it and go back to my Iphone 10 until I find a new one. (Hard to get right now, limited inventory.

So frustrating!

I’m on The EE network in the UK, so it’s definitely not carrier specific. When I went into the Apple store yesterday, they very much dismissed the issue saying there is nothing wrong with the phone, and just cleared my carrier settings, even though I had a recording of a phone call where it sounded like I was in a wind tunnel!

This is really frustrating!

I have a fix!

I just contacted apple support with the same issue on my iPhone 13 Pro. (My voice was cutting out for the person on the other line if they were also speaking or they had any background noise.) This resolution worked for me:

1) check audio: Go to Settings > Sounds (or Settings > Sounds & Haptics), and drag the Ringer and Alerts slider back and forth a few time

2) Press and quickly release the volume up button, press and quickly release the volume down button, then press and hold the side button. When the Apple logo appears, release the button.

3) reset networks settings. Go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings. This also resets Wi-Fi networks and passwords, cellular settings, and VPN and APN settings that you've used before.

That was it. Hope other people find this helpful too.

It seems to bean IOS issue, at least that was the final response that the Apple workers gave me the last time that I went to the genius bar after multiple visits.

I’m a 100% sure that is a software problem, Apple, even gave me a new phone and the problem is still there, and it is happening to many of us as we can see in this post and others talking about the same issue but in other models so that is why I think that it can’t be just a Hardware problem.(https://discussions.apple.com/thread/252051229)

I really need this to be fixed because I usually use my phone for reunions and this problems makes me unintelligible in reunions or calls, that is why I’m using my airpods for calls until Apple fix the problem (with airpods the problem doesn’t happens because it does not use the phone noise cancellation)

I am having the same issue. Sharing the link for the forum where I had asked this question. One of the suggestions was to go to settings and turn off the noise-canceling feature, however, that did not work for me.

In my case, this issue is intermittent (approximately in 1 out of 4 cases). I have tried to hold the phone in my hand and to place it on the table very close to my mouth, however, it does not seem to solve the issue.

(by the way my wife’s iPhone13 Pro max is still under warranty and I have also purchased apple care that covers everything including

theft and loss and still they don’t want to replace the phone)

If they are offering to repair the phone isn’t that admitting that there’s is a problem with the phone!! I don’t understand how apple is doing business anymore!!

I have an iPhone 13 Pro and have the same issue. Constant problem on speaker. Apple says they have "not heard of the problem" and has no interest in doing much. 25 years of being an Apple user. I am about over it. Their policy is now so unfriendly. It's super different if you are on headphones of any kind. Instantly changes. Otherwise, you have to orient the phone exactly perfectly and have it right next to your mouth.

I am on Verizon and have played with the settings on the phone, reset all network settings, and jumped through typical troubleshooting hoops. It is also slightly worse with the Native Apple Leather Case.

In conclusion:

  1. Mic is problematic
  2. Apple does not care - at all

For clarification of the issue:

  • This occurs in a "conference call" situation. It can be a true conference call or my grandchildren playing in the background on the OTHER end of the conversation.
  • The primary listener on the other end cannot hear me when there is background noise on THEIR end.
  • The background noise that causes can be as little as papers being shuffled by one of the participants in the conference call to the singing or talking of non-primary participants in the background of the other end of the call.
  • I forget the name used to describe this, but in older technology devices could not send and receive voice (sounds) at the SAME TIME. We used to be really quiet and allow only one person to talk at a time during business conference calls. It appears that this level of technology has been reintroduced in the iPhone 13 Pro.

It ended up being a problem with the 5G tower which was vandalized. Neither AT&T or Apple gave me any quality customer service. It was a total joke. I don’t think there’s any more geniuses over it Apple and AT&T was not transparent at all about the problem I had to go to the local AT&T store to find out that there was a problem with the tower. Very disappointed in the technical service of both companies it has diminished immensely over last 3 to 5 years

Full-duplex vs. half-duplex - Both walkie-talkies and CB radios are half-duplex devices. That is, two people communicating on a CB radio use the same frequency, so only one person can talk at a time. A cell phone is a full-duplex

device. That means that you use one frequency for talking and a second,

separate frequency for listening. Both people on the call can talk at

once. Source HowStuffWorks and Wiki.
