iPhone SE battery suddenly screwing up, just updated with iOs 15.0.2, adopted as quickly as possible :(

Unfortunately I went against my normal way of waiting months or years to update my software and updated to 15 and 15.0.2 as soon as they came out. It's been weeks possibly a month since these updates to 15 (which occurred VERY SOON after I updated to 14).

Anyway, now my iphone SE (iphone 5 style- 2018ish?) started turning itself off and giving huge battery life problems. So far, it powers back on each time it powers down without warning. I plug it in and it starts up right away. Most of the time when it powers on, it has been reporting very low battery life, though I did not get any Low Battery warnings before she powered down.

Yesterday, it powered down without warning once, and I plugged it back in and restarted it and it re-powered and the battery life immediately stated it was at 66%. So, why did it power down?

I don't know what to do. Nothing like this was happening (for years) prior to the recent updates to 14 and then 15 and 15.0.2. Apple needs to fix this with a subsequent update, they need to know about this. So far, I am continuing to make sure I'm not running too much in background, etc.

Please help!

I'm just repeating information that comes directly from Apple's help pages. I didn't tell you to replace your battery at 80%, I said Apple recommends it. A battery with a 66% health score is going to perform exactly as you described. You can beleive whatever you want but the fact of the matter is your battery needs to be replaced.

Here is the link, you can read it yourself.

Batteries degrade over time with usage, that's just how they work. You can expect about a 1% drop per month with average use on an iPhone.

Apple recommends replacing it when it reaches 80%. If yours is 66%, then it's time to get it replaced.

You mentioned something about 2018ish, if that's when you purchased your phone, then you've had a good run. There is nothing for Apple to fix.

I'm not a computer expert these days, but you just told me to replace my phone battery because the battery is lower than 80% THAT'S RIDICULOUS. The whole point of the story is that the phone DIED ALL OF THE SUDDEN WITHOUT A WARNING. Then I plugged it in and powered up and it says I have 66% life on battery + charging. The point is that the battery life percent information is not correct. Or it is not correct, obviously, that my phone just DIES all of the sudden without warning is a failure. AND IT JUST STARTED DOING THIS AFTER I UPGRADED THE SOFTWARE.

If my battery is less than 80% and I'm near a wall, then I'm going to plug it into the wall and let it charge back to 100%!

Your response is not helpful at all. I don't think you understand the message. Hopefully someone at Apple will fix the battery life issue as which now is occurring since IOS was upgraded.

Thanks,

D
