How do I add a Category to the Personal Budget template in the Numbers application?

I want to add more categories to the Personal Budget template. For instance, I do not want just Auto as a category; I would like have Auto for my car payment and Gas for my gas expenses. I want to be able to separate the fixed expense that I have. How do I create more categories?

To add categories you make changes in two places:


1 - Column A of the 'Summary by Category' Table on the first sheet:



2 - Column C of the 'Transactions' table on the second sheet:




Select cell C2, and under the Cell tab at the right edit the Pop-Up Menu items. They must exactly match the spelling of the categories in the 'Summary by Category' table. Once you've got the menu in cell C2 the way you like then (with C2 selected) command-c to copy, select the cells below it in the column, and command-v to paste.
