iOS 15.1 Calendar app is laggy and unreliable

When swiping between days, data often shows up as stale (events on the wrong day, or events at the "right" time but with wrong title).

Keeping the same day view open for up to 10 seconds seems to correct the issue (temporarily). This appears to be some kind of caching bug.

(This was *not* an issue in 15.0, 15.0.1 or 15.0.2. I have one MS Exchange calendar and three Google calendars.)

This has been reported by others as well: https://www.reddit.com/r/iOSBeta/comments/pxyrz2/calendar_is_extremely_laggyunusable_ios_151_beta/

Same here with an exchange account. As soon as I remove the company exchange account, it works fine (iCloud only in calendar).

Removing and re-adding exchange account does not help.

My IT department originally demanded everyone update their iPhones to 15.

I did as I was told by the deadline and discovered this exchange issue.

I let my IT team know and they said I was the only one having the issue.

yesterday they sent this round:

Please note that Apple have acknowledged an issue between its latest version of the operating system 15.1 and its compatibility with Microsoft’s Outlook calendar. Please do not upgrade to this version at this point – the last approved and stable version was 15.02 - we will advise when Apple have released a newer version that works with Outlook.

Microsoft recommend that you download the Outlook app from the app store and use the outlook application instead of the default Mail application that comes with the Apple operating system on an iPhone.

I had apple support on the phone for 2hrs yesterday trying many things - still no good. They even got me to remove work profiles off phone, remove calendar app etc etc - all no good. Clearly something hasn’t been tested properly in this upgrade which I have experienced with apple previously. They went away to find a solution.

not as good as they make out.

There’s clearly inconsistent responses here which proves apple have not fixed the problem. Does anyone know how we get this highlighted in the public domain? Apples arrogance of not recognizing the crap they have caused should not go without some pain. 15.1.1 should have been focused on this issue instead of some other menial problem. Not impressed at all.

I did it with a one-star review on Apple‘s calendar app in the app-store:

Hi Apple, since the upgrade to 15.1 your calendar app is laggy and does not work. It is unusable for exchange-users. Hence, you block many of us using it as a business tool. The support forum has many threads on this and you don‘t react. I recommend everybody to install the Google-calendar app. This solved the problem. Your app has been deleted. Period!

I have just spoken to the third apple support clown who has said the engineers are blaming this issue in work profiles put in calendar!! Fuming. I have already removed my profile without any change yet apple are using this bullshit as an excuse for their problem.

does anyone know how to remove latest 15.1 and revert back to previous version?

iOS 15.1.1 is only available for iPhone and iPhone 13 models.

iOS 15.1.1 improves call drop performance on iPhone 12 and iPhone 13 models.

which basically means that you’ll have less dropped calls, and you’ll have better experiences with the phone app.

don’t worry about it, your iPhone 6s is still supported, and should continue getting updates until the release of iOS 16, assuming I understand correctly.
