Hi all,
in FCPX 10.6 the Tracker feature was introduced. But when I add a title and I want to let it chill in this Bay Area it always glitches/jumps really quickly and is not stable, see video:
Any idea where this is coming from? Or how to stabilize tracked areas (in this case the Bay Area itself).

Quick update on this: I still don't know what caused the issue itself but I assume the edges of the coast are too blurry because so far away.
I did however find a way to solve the problem. Basically manually removing the misplaced keyframes of the tracked object. It's a lot of work but it works. This page explains it: https://support.apple.com/en-mo/guide/final-cut-pro/verad02b7ceb/10.6/mac/11.5.1
I really hope Apple will provide options to smooth this out more easily.

What are you tracking? The bay? I think it might work if you track the edges. If that doesn't put the title in the right place, use returns, spaces, and line spacing to shift the title. See if that works better.
I tried a few tracks using your clip, and had similar problems.
However, I have also done several tracking examples that worked flawlessly.
I don't know if there is something particular to this clip that is causing a problem.
Thanks to you as well! Maybe the edges of the islands are too blurry since far away and through a window, but that’s just a guess.
Independently from that, are there options to smooth out a tracker to avoid this?
I came across this Motion Tracking tutorial a few days ago and skimmed through it, so I don't know whether it deals with your specific problem but I noted that the tutor covered various problematic scenarios and suggested some solutions.

I looked at that video and at some point they say that if a tracker is jittering a lot, switching the tracking method from Automatic to Point Cloud can help.
And it does, at least in my test using the OP's youtube clip.
I’m already tracking the edges of the bay and same result with the small island further down.
What do you mean with that return, spaces and line spacing? And instead of tracking?
To position the text in the text block if you don't want the title on the edge.

Alignment on Basic Title at the default font size doesn't seem to be working correctly. I'm wondering if this is exacerbating the problem.

Also: it appears that Motion has an option to "smooth" the tracking, and that is not available directly in FCP.
