can't sync iPhone or iPad (connected or over WiFi) after Monterey upgrade

I just installed Monterey, and am trying to sync my iPhone via USB. The finder window, which usually has all the sync settings, is empty. Completely blank.


I tried to sync my iPad over WiFi, and that window is also empty.


I'm guessing this is a bug, but has anyone experienced this/found a workaround?


I've tried restarting both the iPhone and the Mac.

After two restarts of the Mac, it finally appeared, but took much longer than 10 seconds - more like several minutes. It appears to be working now, but seems buggy (the Finder window appears blank every time I navigate to the device, and stays that way for several minutes).
