I had same problem with my iPhone 12 Pro Max after upgrading to iOS 15.1. After troubleshooting with online support and then at the genus bar, we decided to perform a device reset but kept the data on the device. Since then I’ve restored my phone’s normal battery life of practically a full days use like I had before. Hope that helps someone else facing this issue.

I want to be clear from my last post earlier tonight that at no time did I have to put the iPad mini 6 into low power mode yesterday with the above battery life testing. And I did my standby battery drain test for the first 12 hours off the charger without picking it up to use other than look at the battery level. I did not start to use apps on the iPad until after the 12 hours in standby, whereupon it had dropped to 97-98% (3PM).

Also, I did not have the iPhone in low power mode until it dropped to 80% by 3 PM (over a 5 hour period). iPhone has been in low power mode since 3PM - it's 1:44 AM and I'm about to go to bed with it at 48% charge, which is a 4% drop in 3 hours with only 20 minutes of "screen on". Since 7PM the "screen off" use is 0 minutes.

I have not had any apps open in the background on the iPad, because everything was force quit before I went to bed and took it off the charger. However I have 27 apps open in the background on the iPhone, including settings, Kindle, notes, speed test, ring doorbell, messages, camera, fuzzy's taco shop, phone, mail, Safari, Reddit, fitness, App Store, Amazon, Snapchat, photos, Apple Watch, wallet, audible, clock, bank, contacts, Twitter, messenger, calendar, Visa.

Gary ~ It sounds like that iPhone 6s still has its original 6 year-old battery. ...If that's the case, by now the battery is certainly weak with age & use – which is normal. The long process of applying an iOS update can strain a weak, aging battery and be the proverbial "straw that broke the camel's back". Have the battery replaced and you also won't then need the Mophie battery pack...
