Screen Record Time Limitation in Macos 12.0.0 Monterey

I have noticed that I have an exact screen record limitation of 34 minutes and 47 seconds on my brand new M1 MAX 16" Mac.


I have tried this 3 times over two days, and each recording stops at exactly that time, regardless of how hard I am pushing the machine. The files are fine, it acts exactly as if I clicked the stop button. I will say for context that I am using a TB3 dock to connect it to 2 external monitors. I am also using the hdmi port for a total of 3 external monitors. The monitor I am recording is one of the ones connected to the dock.


This length of time is pretty long so its taking me some time to go through the possible issues but this is where I am at so far. I believe there shouldn't be a limit for screen recording especially as I have 2 TB free on my internal drive.

AFAICT, there isn't a time limit. my longest screen recording to date has been 4.5 hours. however, i found a while back that if i set the "save to" location to anything but "desktop" i ran into issues saving my longer recordings. ever since setting the location to desktop, i have not run into issues with the length of any recording. and once saved to the desktop, i've had no issues moving those recordings to an external HDD or even to other locations. (such as my local drive)

Thanks for your help, but I have solved the issue by simply updating to 12.0.1.


However, I would advise that in the future you actually read the post. Asking me to look at an article on how to clear the harddrive space after I clearly stated that I had over half of my 4 TB free, AND it being a brand new machine is silly and almost insulting.


I don't understand how anyone could have possibly thought that would have helped.
