Mail Rules and Related Mail Missing

I am running Mojave 10.14.6 on an iMac, can't upgrade due to incompatible app I require.

I had many rules in Mail that sent incoming items to various folders. Today I noticed that all of the rules (except Apple News) were missing from the rules list, and so was all of the associated mail. In other words, ALL mail that ANY rule would have sent to ANY folder is not there, since September 29 (today is October 28). It's also not in any other folder, as far as I can tell -- it's just vanished.

That is the same date that I had a glitch with iCloud that caused all kinds of problems, and I suspected it was related anyway, so I turned off iCloud completely today.

All the NEW rules-related mail is still not showing up, though. I'm guessing I can't get the last month's mail back, but I'm hoping someone can tell me how to get new mail to start showing up again in the main folder. Forget the rules, I can live without them. But I would like to start getting all that mail again. It just seems not to arrive at all. I'm guessing that the rules still do exist somewhere and are grabbing the mail and putting it where I will never find it.

Would greatly appreciate any help. Thanks.

Start with this...

Safe Boot, (holding Shift key down at startup), does the problem occur in Safe Mode? Could take 10 minutes.

Safe mode attempts to repair Disks & clears lots of caches & loads safe Drivers, & prevents loading of 3rd party extensions, so if Safe Mode works try again in regular boot.

If no luck with that...

EtreCheck is a FREE simple little diagnostic tool to display the important details of your system configuration and allow you to copy that information to the Clipboard. It is meant to be used with Apple Support Communities to help people help you with your Mac. It will not display any personal info.

Pastebin is a good place to paste the whole report if you capture the URL while there…

https://pastebin.com/

Whew, they've changed pastebin & made it harder, but after pasting in, click Create new paste button, then Embed button, then copy the URL...

The important part of the above is between the quote marks...

If pastebin is a problem for you then workable but harder for me to work with...the Note tool on the bottom of this editor's toolbar, as shown in the image, to copy and paste the output from EtreCheck. In a Reply before you click post, look for this to add longer texts...

I have not been able to boot up in Safe Mode. It gets to the point where the horizontal line under the Apple logo completely fills in, and goes no further. I have waited with my finger on the shift key more than 10 or 12 minutes after that point, tried several times, but nothing happens. Had to restart with the on/off button on iMac.

I tried starting pressing the option key and then selecting my drive (which was already selected anyway). It then asks for the network password, but there's no way to enter it -- no cursor appears in the space even if I mouse to it.

I also tried unplugging/replugging in iMac, also no help.

Any suggestions?

Thanks again.
