xbox controller mapping wrong in some games

M1 iMac, Monterey 12.0.1

Xbox 1708 bluetooth gamepad

Gamepad connects to BT just fine (verified by BT preference pane), can play Evoland (Steam) without issue. Steam overlay detects gamepad as Xbox, Big Picture works just fine.

Moonlighter detects gamepad, but controls are all over the place (X is directional up, menu is select, etc).

Contacted 11BitStudios, they've claim M1 is issue, they say Xbox controllers are not supported on M1.

So what's going on? Why do some games work, and others do not? Is it a Rosetta thing?

iMac 24″, macOS 12.0

Hi jabrwock,

We see you're having an issue getting your controller to work properly with your software. Xbox controllers are compatible with macOS systems. You can learn how to pair one here: Pair an Xbox controller to your Apple device

If the issue only persists with one particular software we'd recommend continuing working with the developer to resolve the issue.

The controller pairs just fine.

Some games recognize it without issue (Evoland)

Some recognize it but button mappings are all over the place (Moonlighter)

Some don't recognized it at all (Transistor, Owlboy, Graveyard Keeper)
