Calendar crashes after update to iOS 15.1

Hi,

Several days ago I updated my iPhone 12 to latest iOS 15.1 and what right after the update my Calendar app started freezing and sometimes crashing.

After multiple attempts to solve the issue by the Apple support the problem is still there.

Following suggestion of the apple advisors I did the following:

  • hard restart (+,-, side button)
  • reseting all setting
  • deleting all data and restore from iCloud back up
  • deleting the Calendar app and reinstaling from App Store

The problem was gone only when I restored my iPhone via finder on my MacBook Pro.

However, right after I restored my iPhone from iCloud backup the problem was back again.

During last call with Apple, the advisor suggested that perhaps screen of my iPhone is somehow damaged, which honestly makes no sense as all other apps work just fine.

It all looks like the bug appeared in my iCloud backup after latest update and it seems Apple is not capable of resolving the issue (all in all I was in contact with apple support 5 times during this week)

Would be great to know if you had similar issue and if it was resolved other than restoring the iPhone from the scratch.

Cheers,

Cezary

Apple Support in the Netherlands listened to me and found multiple reports of the issue, so for sure the issue is recognized now within Apple as related to use of the Calendar with an Exchange account.

The only suggestion was to see if removing my Exchange solved the issue, which I refused as it makes no sense to test with an empty Calendar.

There is no solution yet.

I had the same problem and resolved it as follows:

  • go to the iPhone Settings
  • Scroll down to "Calendar", select "Accounts"
  • Now you see all your accounts (email, calendar, contacts, reminders...) that sync with the iPhone.
  • Select those accounts that are either Office 365, or Microsoft Exchnage.
  • You will see the list of Mail, Contact, Calendar, Reminders and Notes with the slider that allows or not the synchronization of such piece of info (e.g., Contacts or Reminders or Calendar). "Uncheck" the Calendar and confirm the delition of the data from the iPhone.
  • Wait a few seconds and then "check" the Calendar again, this will start the synchronisation of that calendar with the iPhone calendar and if you go back to the Calendar application, it should work (without freezing).

I was having the same issue for weeks on my 11 Pro Max and now the 13 Pro Max.

I was just able to fix it by clicking on the “Calendars” after it loaded and then unselecting ‘Siri Siggested’, ‘Birthdays’, ‘Calendar’, ‘Work’ and ‘Home’ calendars. I left the exchange one selected then clicking “done”. It immediately fixed the issue but I verified by closing the app then reloading and selecting the calendars I want. The interface looks a little different but now it loads fine.

maybe this’ll help others fix their crashing and stuck/slowcalendar app.

Tried removing all other calendars to no avail. Conversely I turned off the exchange account with the problem and ran only gmail and yahoo account calendars (which are not as populated mind you) and the issue went away. I believe as others previously mentioned, that this is strictly Exchange account related, particularly as it pertains to accounts with large amounts of calendar data.

Apple needs to resolve this via bet update.

Same here. All this $$ for apple technology, and they can’t get IOS UPDATES accurate. They fix one thing & damage something else that’s critical.

No option correct, as hard reset doesn’t work, had to restore back to factory settings. Now the real work starts reorganizing the apps, adding their user names and passwords etc. Their iOS errors are time consuming and damaged 4 days of my calls scheduling locking me out. Hope they get their act together, as I’m exploring more reliable backups.

I'm having the same problem what do even more so. Even when I use my Mac and go to iCloud.com, login, and click on calendar, events that I have created on either my iPhone, iPad or Mac do not show up in iCloud calendar. If I create an event on the iCloud calendar via Safari the event sometimes shows up on my Mac's calendar app. I've had two support calls with Apple tech and awaiting a call back on Thursday. I'm also pretty sure this started working since the latest iOS update but it seems to be also with the iCloud calendar server as I get errors when trying to open calendar on iCloud.com.
