Why can’t I buy more than 2 TB on iCloud ?
I recently went with my partner to a large apple store in the center of Rome made an appointment to ask the “genius” why we can’t buy more storage on iCloud. The very disappointing answer was that there’s no way around it.
Both he and I are faithful users of apple and have owned almost every iphone model as it was ever available - faithfully upgrading each time.
These phones get bigger and bigger storage capacity wise, and yet the iCloud storage capacity hasn’t grown in years from 2 TB!
Indeed the new iPhone 13 has 1 TB of data on it, so, what’s going on ?
- What will happen when he have exhausted it all ? Will we loose our photos and videos which we need for our work and our livelihood?
- first off please don’t suggest we go through all out stored content and edit it down. We have looked into it. It is NOT user friendly to delete many iCloud photos at a time. It’s a huge time waste for both of us to sit there deleting every image or video one by one online. It would be like a drop in the ocean.
- Other backups of other previous phones - as Photograohers and content makers these are of two past phones we still use as backup phones and each still has its own photos and videos independent and different from the others phone’s backups. So they are needed - so please don’t suggest deleting those.
- Creating a new iCloud, I once did that already when I ran out of space the first iCloud ID I had and it’s a nightmare to figure out what is on what iCloud.
- desperate, and willing to pay for more storage We looked into Apple + (not that we use the services but only for the 4TB of data it says you can get out of the subscription) however the apple store genius informed us it wouldn’t help because this 4 TB is to be shared among a family and is capped and can’t be used for just one iCloud account. (One user can’t use the 4 TB she said this seems ILLOGICAL - but I called the 1800 Cupertino apple support line and the rep i got also told me he was unsure apple + would give me 4 TB for one iCloud account !
- They both suggest we subscribe to it and see, and if it doesn’t work then as for a refund?!! Can’t apple answer this more clearly ?
So what are we to do ? Any ideas ?
Has anyone been able to get more storage on ONE account ?
Also what happens once the max 2 TB is reached ?
Thanks so much in advance !
