Creative omni 5.1 driver keeps crashing

I have connected my old creative omni 5.1 external sound card on my new mac. I have downloaded and installed the driver supplied by creative, however, the software keeps crashing. I have tried setting the surround sound using Midi or whatever it’s called but to no avail. During the testing in Midi the speakers work fine but as soon as I start anything else the whole thing goes into stereo mode. Does anyone have an idea how to fix this?

Hello Ouis90,

We see you're having issues using an external sound card on the new Mac. We'd be happy to assist.

Have you had a chance to confirm with the manufacturer that this sound card and driver is compatible with the current macOS Monterey version?

We were able to help locate their support page if you need to reach out to them: Customer Support

If you had restored a backup onto the new Mac, you can also try testing this out in a new user account: Set up users, guests, and groups on Mac

If it persists in the newly created user, that would indicate it's happening system-wide. Whereas if it works well in the new user, then that indicates there may be a software conflict specific to the primary user account.

Cheers.
