Apple Watch workout notification keeps pausing music

This is happening on my series 4 as well. It didn’t start until the latest watch iOS update. I was hoping it would be fixed when my new series 7 comes in a few days but it looks like apple is just ignoring the issue.

Good to see others are also trying to get it fixed.

I am surprised the developers need log files from consumers. It is 100% repeatable on every streaming service, with the current releases of iWatch and iPhone iOS. If any of them have an iWatch, they can just get the log data off their own watches :)

but to clarify: I do get other Siri notifications during walkout like emails or text messages.

And I do not get any Siri voice feedback regarding my trading if i haven’t started music or podcast playback.

Not sure whether this problem is related to streaming music because I always play music or podcasts that I have downloaded to the phone.

I assume 1) Siri needs active playback to ‚know‘ she has to speak through the AirPods and 2) active playback on the other hand hinders Siri to announce the workout progress as it is internally ‚less prioritized‘ than the playback (if that makes any sense)

I just updated both my phone and iWatch to the latest updates.  Nothing is fixed.  And I noticed this:  While using the exercise app (outdoor walk), I was talking on the iphone (using my earpods).  After one mile, it was announced ON MY IWATCH, and temporarily disconnected my earpods from my phone conversation.  It took about a minute to reconnect, while we

were both saying “are you there?”

C’mon apple. Fix this.

As if its not bad enough that I cannot remove “cycle tracking”…. As a male.

Same problem here. While listening to Music app on watch, get phone call, music no longer restarts. Have to go into playlist and start fresh. Until a few months ago the song last playing would resume. Very frustrating. Watch has been updated to latest software version

Having the same exact problem. Just read through the entire thread. Very disappointed that Apple hasn’t fixed this bug yet. I’m training for a half marathon and it is beyond frustrating having my music stop every mile I hit. It frequently completely unpairs from my AirPods and starts playing music off my phone. So extremely disappointed and frustrated.

My situation is that I only get audio notifications through my headphones when I am using the "TIme fo Walk." When I listen to a podcast while walking, I will not get an audio notification but get a buzz on my Apple Watch. It was not always like this.

Yeah I have this same issue with Amazon Music too. It's funny how it crept in during the last 6 months or so... or whenever.. but wasn't there before. Apple doesn't have this issue though. If you listen to Apple Music it doesn't occur. Regardless, its a real nuisance and makes the experience of using the device poor.

I agree with the other reply to this. I am having the same thing happening and I use Amazon music. And this hasn’t happened with any other headphones, used with the same app. The common denominator here are the Powerbeats pro.

It happens with Apple Music too. So it’s an Apple problem. Stop trying to pawn it off and find a solution.

Mine is doing the same now. Completely disconnects/unpairs. I too am about to trash my Apple Watch. It isn’t worth it to have to stop exercising and re-pair the devices.

No- I do not consider “turn off this feature that appears to be broken” to be an appropriate fix.

Update:

This morning I updated IPhone to 15.2, and iWatch to 8.3.

Now exercise updates only come through on my watch while streaming. They are not directed to my Airpods at all.

Still broken.
