OS Monterey 12.0.1 - SanDisks Have Stopped Working

Since upgrading my MacBook Pro to OS 12.0.1 Monterey my SanDisk USB drives aren't working. When I try to access using the installed SanDiskSecureAccessV3_mac application I get "This application only runs on a SanDisk flash drive." I've reinstalled app and nothing changes. Can't access. All of the drives worked fine before the upgrade.

What's up?

I contacted SanDisk and they say it’s their problem and they are working on a fix. Apparently they were not in sync with Apple to be compatible with the changes in Monterey. They didn’t have a date for when the fix will be released, but recommended checking their web support site where it will be downloadable.

My Sandisk flash-drive was also not being recognised. I went on the Sandisk website: the 'Secure Access' app no longer works with Monterey, the suggested fix was to download the 'Private Access' app (Mac and PC versions available). I have done this and now have access to my flash-drive as normal. The link to the download page: https://kb.sandisk.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/21996/~/privateaccess-support-information-and-download-page

Hope this helps.

I started another thread before I was pointed over to this topic about the problem I was having with my late model Intel Mac running Monterey 12.0.1, and I was able to confirm the problem is Monterey and not limited to the M1 architecture:

https://discussions.apple.com/thread/253412693

Here is the last post from that thread confirming the steps that I took to determine why the Monterey Mac was unable to get past the erasing step in disk utility of formatting the drive:

Update: I took it to Apple support and very helpful senior advisor looked over with a screen share and we verify that there was no specific finding in activity monitor or console logs that acknowledged or suggested any kind of hang process; we took it through Recovery Mode version of Disk Utility ("to get the OS out of the way") and had the same thing, where it get stopped at the erasing stage, even with setting it up without encryption.

So I fired up the 2012 Catalina Mac, and it happily formatted the drive to the point where it was mounting in two minutes or less with macOS journaled or AFPS options. Then I took the formatted drive with AFPS, not encrypted, plugged it into the 2020 MacBook Pro running Monterey 12.0.1, and it happily mounted the drive and Time Machine is now backing it up and encrypting as it goes.

This experience demonstrates that the SanDisk the problem is not based in M1 architecture, because this is a very recent Intel Mac (purchased October or November 2020) running Monterey. And this same recent Intel Mac had no problem formatting an identical twin drive for Time Machine before the update from Big Sur (which came on the computer) to Monterey.

After trying this and the vault not working on my MacAir I tried the using the fault on a Windows10 PC and the vault will not work either.

I can access the vault if I plug the drive into my iPhone and then have to take it out of the vault and onto the unsecured part of the drive.

I never had an issue until after upgrading to Monterey 12.0.1.

I'm having issues with a Gtech Gdrive where it keeps flashing and I can't access files, eject disk, or shutdown the computer when it is connected. I contacted support and they basically said the same thing they are working on a fix. I've seen lots of other posts about external drive and usb hub issues being affected by OS 12.0.1.

I have this problem too, I contacted sands live chat who asked me to remove some of the files from the vault onto my desktop, download a new file or secure access V3 from their website and re-install.

Didn't work, fingers crossed they'll come out with an update soon. I use my sandisk for work at work on windows and at home on Mac and currently can't access any of my files at home.

It's hard to believe that Apple or SadDisk has not addressed this problem! I told him about it the day after the software update came out! The only thing that saved me is that I use my old computer that is not updated, I purchased Seagate back up plus for Mac- you can make that secure and you can say goodbye to SandDisk what's your move all your files over! At least I have secure and accessible files by doing this. I don't think Apple or SanDisk care anymore about anyone who fights faster problems.

Looking up at Sea gate there Secure software it's very easy to use and you can make it secure!

Hello Guys , any update here . is there an update for san disk secure access for Monterey ?

I bought the san disk on Sunday , I have put all my data on it , and checked the password app secure access , it was working on big sur but I did not put password .

On Monday I updated to Monterey , the drive is working , thanks god I did not put password otherwise I would have lose the access to my data in one day .

I feel I should have taken the Samsung T7 touch as it secured by touch and that’s easier.

But now I need to secure my Sandisk. so any update please .

I contacted San disk and they replied that the problem is due to incompatibility of the secure access software with the new macOS Monterey and they are working on the fix.

currently they have released the private access which replaces the secure access.

I have tried it and seems to work just fine. it takeover the previous secure access files. try it through
